I recently reviewed Special Hobby's new-tool Piper L-4 and was thoroughly charmed by it (https://aeroscale.net/news/l-4-grasshopper---from-africa-to-central-europe). It comes with good quality decals for four colour schemes, but Iliad Design have taken things to the next level with a selection of six really varied options, including US Army, Navy and Air Force machines, plus an L-4 in Free French service. 

The decals arrive in a simple zip-lock bag, with a full-colour sheet of instructions.

As we've come to expect from Iliad Design, the decals are superb quality - thin and glossy, and printed in pin-sharp registration. The colours look excellent and excess carrier film almost non-existent, except where it's used to group multiple element. Previous experience with Iliad Designs' decals gives me total confidence that these will work beautifully.

The colour schemes featured are:

1. Piper L-4H, s/n 329905, "Miss Me", flown by Lt. Merrit Francies and Lt. William Martin, Germany, April 1945. 

2. Piper L-4, s/n 33658, "Humphries Flying Weasel", flown by Maj. John Humpries, 546th BS, 384th BG, UK, 1944

3. Piper L-4, 31356, Camp Clipper, California, 1943

4. Piper L-4, "White 3", Free French forces.

5. Piper L-4H, s/n 329928, "A-72", 32e Section d'Observation d'Aviation d'Artillerie, French 2nd Armoured Division.

6. Piper NE-2, s/n 29669, US Navy, 1944-45.

The chosen aircraft offer a really interesting variety, with the aluminium-doped ""Humphries Flying Weasel" and desert camouflaged Camp Clipper aircraft standing out among the standard Olive Drab/Neutral Gray machines.

The instructions are very good, with clear high quality profiles and plan views accompanied by informative and useful notes.

Conclusion

Iliad Design have produced a great set of decals to accompany Special Hobby's cute little "Grasshopper". The quality is top-notch and I find a couple of the schemes are so tempting, I can't chose which to go for! I think the only answer will be to treat myself to another kit so I can do both!
