Review of Plus Model resin 1/32 figure of an F-104 Pilot

Plus Model reference AL3007 is a 1/32 resin figure of an F-104 Starfighter pilot, with the helmet under his arm. Therefore it is intended to be shown standing by the aircraft and not inside it, which allows to use it with any F-104 kit of that scale.

This review has been done using a sample provided by Plus Model.

The figure comes on a rigid and transparent box/blister with foam to protect it and a cardboard back. Inside the cardboard there is a full size illustration, same as in the front but larger. It can be used as a painting guide, despite no colors are referred.

My knowledge of aircraft uniforms and equipment is limited so I can not evaluate the accuracy, however the detail of the figure is very good, with deep relief to help painting. Resin is grey, hard but not brittle, and apart from some flash there are no defects. No warping, bubbles or deformations.

It comes in two parts, the main figure and the left arm with the helmet. Both have a casting block that must be removed, preferably with a saw and refining with a blade.

Flash can be easily cleaned with a blade. The arm fit is not bad nor perfect, it has three lugs to help with alignment. It is important to leave both contact surfaces flat but even then I ended with a small gap on the back that will require some filler. On the other hand, the hose on the helmet is delicate, so as the straps and zips.

In summary, a nice figure with very good detail to accompany and complement a grounded F-104.
