The TV-2 is the designation give to 649 US Navy T-33A. The first 28 were delivered as TO-2. On September 18th, 1962, the surviving TV-2 were re-designated as T-33B
In the following years, the US Navy and Marine Corps’ T-33 were replaced as trainers by the North American T-2 Buckeye and Douglas TA-4 Skyhawk, but still remained as utility aircraft, proficiency trainers and aerial targets during the 1970s & 1980s.
In April 1997, the T-33 in all its variants, was retired from service in the USAF & USN
