The Reichsverteidigung (Defence of the Reich) was a hard-fought campaign that saw the fighter pilots of the Luftwaffe attempt to defend German skies from increasingly large formations of RAF and USAAF medium and heavy bombers. Flying both piston- engined fighters and, eventually, the first jet-engined interceptors to see operational service, the Jagdflieger employed a wide range of weapons and tactics in an e ort to blunt the Allied air offensive across Nazi Germany and Occupied Europe.

Defenders of the Reich explores the history of the Jagdwaffe commanders, pilots, aircraft, weaponry, control systems, training, dangerous missions and tactics deployed against RAF and USAAF bombers from the summer of 1942 through to the German collapse. They fought until they were all but  bliterated as Allied fighters decimated their ranks in the air and targeted their air fields in devastating strafing attacks.

Osprey Publishing informs that this hardcover volume of 480 pages will be available in November.
