New in Eduard's line-up of accessories is a set of Brassin wheels for their new-tool Zero kits. Rowan takes a look.

Eduard's 1:48 Zeros are beautifully detailed kits - see our review of the Type 32: https://aeroscale.net/news/a6m3-zero-type-32 - but you can always rely on Eduard to go the extra mile with their various upgrade series. So, it's no surprise to see a new set of resin wheels among their latest accessories.

The set arrives in a simple resealable bag with a card backer, and comprises new mainwheels and a tailwheel, plus a set of washi tape painting masks and instructions.

The quality of the new parts is superb, with wonderfully crisp casting detail. The mainwheels will be very simple to prepare, with the casting points forming "flats" for a weighted look.

The tailwheel will require a bit more care, though. The delicate combined wheel/leg assembly is cast in harder white resin with "flash" between the casting points. It should be no problem if you work carefully with a fresh scalpel blade, but diving straight in heavy-handed will risk breaking it.

A nice touch is that Eduard include a sheet of die-cut washi tape painting masks. I always find this is the ideal medium for masks like this, with its flexibility allowing it to conform to the compound curves with ease.

The set comes complete with a neatly illustrated set of instructions, but experienced modellers will hardly spare them a glance because the parts are drop-in replacements for the kit originals. Colour matches are give for Gunze Sangyo paints.

Conclusion

This is another beautifully produced detail set from Eduard. The new parts are instantly superior to the kit originals, with crisper detail on the hubs and tiny manufacturer's text on the tyres' sidewalls. Installation will be straightforward - but newcomers to working with resin parts should take extra care with the tailwheel.
