Detail & Scale is pleased to announce the release of our latest publication, "S-3 Viking in Detail & Scale."
One of the most requested titles for the Detail & Scale Series has been the S-3 Viking, and now that book is available in both printed and digital formats.
Originally designed as a dedicated anti-submarine warfare aircraft, the Viking developed into a multi-role aircraft for the carrier air wings. Its weapons capabilities were expanded, and its sophisticated electronics equipment allowed it to detect threats and provide valuable intelligence data to commanders. It also took over the role as the primary tanker aircraft when the KA-6D Intruder was retired.
In addition to the standard S-3A and S-3B Viking variants, a dedicated COD version and a specialized ELINT and SIGINT variant, in the form of the ES-3A Shadow, was developed and placed in service. All are covered in extensive detail, both inside and out, in this new publication.
As is the case with all titles in the Detail & Sale Series, a special Modelers Section in the back of the book provides reviews and other information about the scale model kits available of the Viking.
