One of the strangest helicopters ever built.
Some models simply stay close to our hearts — and the HRP-1 “Flying Banana” is definitely one of them.
With its distinctive curved fuselage and tandem rotor configuration, the HRP-1 became one of the first practical transport helicopters ever used in service.
First flown in 1945, this unusual machine helped pioneer the concept of vertical troop and cargo transport. It served with the U.S. Marines and the U.S. Coast Guard, opening the door to the helicopter transport operations we know today.
Only a small number were built, but its influence on helicopter development was enormous.
And honestly…with such a unique shape, it simply belongs in a helicopter collection.
These are injection-moulded kits from new moulds included in this box with clear parts (the cockpit canopy) for each model with 3 decal options.
