CMK have released three upgrade sets for Special Hobby's 1/72nd Mirage IIIC kit, and we take a look at the resin replacements.

Mirage IIIC (M.B.Mk.4) seat

Packed in a blister pack, the Czech Master Kits resin seat for the Mirage IIIC is a straight forward swap for the kits seat found in the Special Hobby Mirage kit.

The seat is beautifully cast, with no air bubbles. The seat is attached to a pour plug at the base of the seat, so it should be fairly easy to remove.

The small fret of photo etch is unpainted.

Quite frankly there is no comparison between the kits seat and the resin replacement.

The kits seat is made up of five plastic parts and is pretty deviod of detail and doesen't have a harness supplied.

The resin seat is really well detailed with a nice fabric effect for the seat cushion, raised and recessed detail for the side and back of the seat, and a twelve part photo etch harness.

If there is a must have replacement for this kit, then this is the one to go for, even with the canopy closed you will still see the seat.

The instructions are printed on an small paper with one build sequnce, showing how the P.E harness attaches.

No colours are given for the seat.

Mirage IIIC wheels

This set contains two main wheels, with the spoke hub moulded as part of the tyre and a separate rear hub. The nose wheel is one piece.

Both the main and the nose wheels are replaced with this set, and along with the seat, this is the one area that needs a bit more detail.

The kits wheels are not that bad, but this set really adds detail, as the detail is far more refined.

Manufacturers names and a more pronouced tread pattern are on the resin tyres, plus they are very slighty fattened on one side, to give it that weighted look.

The spoked hubs are far sharper in detail then the plastic offering.

The rear hubs are seperate, and will need to be cut off the pour plug, and sanded flat and level before inserting into the tyre.

As with the front hub, the detail is sharper and not so crude as the kits part.

The nose wheel, like the kits offering, is cast as one part, and features a tread pattern and side wall detail not found on the kit part.

The instructions give you the step number of the kits instructions in which you attach the wheels, not that you will need this small sheet to tell you that lol.

Mirage IIIC Atar 9B engine nozzle

Like the rest of the sets, the resin part is packed ina blister pack, with a small set of instructions.

This engine nozzle is a drop in replacment for the kits two part plastic offering.

The beauty of this part is that it is one piece, so no seam work is needed, unlike the kits part which does have a noticeable seam that will need to be taken care of.

There is some very light detail on and in the nozzle, where as the kits part is pretty devoid.

The instructions, show where and when to install the part, but is self explantry.
