Introduction

Kagero have a good number of books available that would appeal to the modeller. One of these series is called Topdrawings and covers military vehicles, aircraft and ships, in a way that makes them extremely valuable to the modeller who wishes to take accuracy to the level that meets their approval. The book we are looking at here covers Messerschmitt Me 210/Me 410.

Review

Topdrawing series of books are soft backed, with a card cover with a glossy finish that provides a reasonable level of protection. This cover protect 20 pages and two fold out sheets the text is written in two languages, with Polish on the right and English on the left of the page. The author of this particular book, looking at the Me 210/Me 410 is Anirudh Rao. 

Aircraft as a general rule of thumb, are stream lined in order to reduce drag and increase speed. The line drawings within the title, are provided in 1/24th through to 1/72nd with 1/72nd scale being the most common. The line drawings enable the modeller to check models against the drawings, and also provides cross section profiles of the fuselage. The centre of the book, provides a number of period black and white photographs, which will help the modeller to pick out details such as wear and tear. Also within the centre of the book, are four side views of the aircraft in no particular scale, coloured in should you wish finish something a little differently.

The first fold out sheet I looked at, looks at the Me210/410 from above and below, and from the side, in 1/48th scale, with large 1/12th scale drawings of the cockpit and nose gun bay. The second sheet I looked at, again is completely in 1/48th scale, and looks at the top, bottom, side and front. 

Conclusion

The Me 210/410 is an aircraft that came to my attention quite a long way into my life. But it is one of those aircraft that the Germans manufactured during the war that had a unique and appealing look to it. Models in various scales are available from a number of manufacturers, and this title will help you take detailing and accuracy to a level of your choice, as regards easily observed areas.
