The contents are packed in a small clear bag with a card core that should slip through most folks’ letterbox. The parts are glued to the card core to stop them moving around the packaging. Great care needs to betaken to lift the PE fret from the card backing as the adhesive holding it is strong. Better to leave in in situ and cut the parts as you need them.

The resin based and pre-painted instrument panel is a one-piece direct replacement for the kits plastic instrument panel and decal instrument faces. There is even a couple of recesses at the back where the rather kits rudder pedals fit. The fidelity of the instrument faces is very good, though I have been a bit unfair to Eduard with the macro photography. They do stand up to the well to the close scrutiny. There is enough relief on the panel to make it look convincing although it does miss the switches and handles that are normally present on the photo etched equivalents.  But that’s a small sacrifice for the ease of use. It will certainly make life a lot easier and adds a really nicely detailed item to your Revell 1/48 scale Beaufighter Mk.IF.

You will still need your photo etched bending skills for the pre-coloured photo etched parts. The pilot and radar operator share the same style of shoulder harnesses and lap straps. The harness detail moulded onto the seats needs to be removed before fitting. There’s even a small PE surround for the recess where the harness goes through the seat.

The cockpit is always one of the areas fellow modelers will look at when examining your pride and joy. We are not all blessed with a steady hand, patience and the necessary paint skills to produce an instrument panel that will look this good. The addition of the harnesses is a real bonus. So,this set is a worthy addition if you have or thinking about acquiring the kit.

Conclusions

Eduards LööK range of instrument panels offer the modeller a much more simplified ready to fit solution to achieving a good-looking instrument panel with the added bonus of seat harnesses.
