'In Enemy Hands' is a new 1:48 scale release from Exito Decals, Kevin Brant takes a look

Introduction

Occasionally during war, somehow, an aircraft will fall into the hands of the other side, which in most cases allows the enemy to investigate the equipment.  Most of all, it makes for an interesting marking scheme subject, and Exito Decals has release a new set covering some World War 2 German aircraft in the hands of the Allies.

Review

Exito Decals have always been known to produce some great subjects, but this latest release looks very interesting covering WW2 German aircraft in the hands of the Allies.  The 1/48 scale decal set comes inside an clear plastic sleeve with a thick card stock inside to prevent against folding damage.  Inside there is the front sheet, showing the three aircraft marking options with a brief description.

This is followed by the typical great looking artwork from Exito on the reference cards, three, one for each aircraft marking scheme.  Each card includes on side one aside profile of the aircraft printed in glorious looking color and details. On the reverse side the details for the painting and marking of the aircraft.  This is very well laid out to include details of the markings placement and some side note about the markings.  Also included are reference images of the actual aircraft, showing that Exito Decals has done their research for the markings set.

Paint references are included for both AK Interactive and Mr. Hobby.  One down side to this set, and all sets from Exito Decals is the lack of stencil data.  The decal sheet contains the decals for the scheme itself, but any stencil data will need to be source from the original kit or elsewhere.

The decals themselves are also a piece of art, very well printed by Cartograph.  Exito has done a real nice job in present the look of the markings either being applied over the previous owners and in one case hand painted.  All the colors are well done and all in register.

Conclusion

This is another excellent looking set of decals from Exito Decals, very well printed and presented with great looking reference cards for the painting and marking schemes. As with all sets from Exito Decals you can see the research done as provided on the reference cards which will allow you to mark up and decently accurate version of the aircraft.  I would definitely recommend this set and any set of Decals from Exito Decals.
