Among the upgrades that Eduard have released for their new 1:48 Wildcat is new undercarriage set that combines metal gear legs and 3D printed doors.

The set is packed in a sturdy little flip-top box with the parts sealed in zip-lock bags.

In terms of detail, the kit's undercarriage is already excellent, but it is quite delicate so there's certainly a justification for installing a much more robust pair of metal gear legs. They're very cleanly produced and should look great when installed. Also provided are new 3D printed retraction arms.

The real revelation for me is the new undercarriage doors. These are in a completely different league to the original styrene parts and will make a genuine visual difference if you intend the undercarriage to be subject to close inspection.

As usual, Eduard have included a clear set of instructions with colour matches for Gunze Sangyo paints.

Conclusion

At just under £15 you can't really call this a budget upgrade, but it's beautifully produced and the new bronze gear legs will definitely give the Wildcat's spindly undercarriage a much better chance of surviving any knocks, while the gear doors are simply superb.
