Here we take a look at two offerings from MMP books covering the Curtiss Hawk H-75A-1 and H-75A-2.

Review

Two new releases from MMP Books Numbers 54 and 55 covering the A1 and A2 versions of the Curtiss Hawk are now available. These titles only consist of 20 pages, which has never up until this point bothered me. What these titles do is provide scale drawings in 1/48th and 1/72nd scale which enables the modeller to verify the accuracy of their models against these scale drawings. That in itself is an aspect that I am very happy about. Also included with these scale drawings are a number of pages providing period photographs of the Curtiss Hawk and I was very happy to see these included. However, upon looking at the additional title covering the Curtiss Hawk, I was disappointed to find a number of the photographic pages duplicated verbatim across the two titles, and I suspect like me, a number of modellers interested in the Curtiss Hawk would have purchased both titles only to be disappointed by this photographic faux par. The titles are rescued due to the fact that well written captions accompany each photograph and that the cost of each of the books is £9 if purchased from Script Books. The aircraft modeller can garner a good amount of information from the 20 pages within each title, but I still feel a little disappointed in the duplication of a number of pages.
