Eduard have released a set of washi-tape painting masks for Tamiya's classic 1:48 Skyraider. Rowan takes a look.

Eduard continue to fill the gaps, steadily releasing masking sets for popular older kits. This time Tamiya's A1-H is treated to a neatly produced set of die-cut masks for its canopy and wheels. This is a "TFace" set, so it includes masks for both the inside and the outside of the canopy and windscreen - useful as the kit has a separate sliding hood. Also provided are masks for the mainwheels and tailwheel.

Washi-tape is the ideal medium for masking tasks like these, its flexibility allowing it to cope with complex curves. Nevertheless, you'll still need liquid mask (not included) to complete the job. Eduard provide a clear diagram of what masks go where, needed because the interior masks obviously won't fit on the outside.

Conclusion

The Skyraider's canopy is hardly the most difficult to paint, but this is a straightforward set of masks that will be a useful time-saver. Washi-tape is pretty robust so, with a little care, it'll be quite feasible to save the masks after use for a second model.
