The silhouette is revealed: meet the Yakovlev UT-1 — our first kit in 1:32.
The UT-1 was a single-seat advanced trainer of the late 1930s. Between 1936 and 1940, 1,241 were built, and the type prepared a generation of pilots for high-performance fighters such as the I-16. In 1941–42 a small number were armed and flew ground-attack missions with Black Sea Fleet aviation around Sevastopol and in the Caucasus.
The original aircraft was compact: a wingspan of just 7.3 m. In 1:32 that gives a model of about 23 cm across — a large-scale subject that still fits comfortably on any display shelf, with room to show the exposed cylinders of the M-11 radial, the open cockpit and the distinctive spatted undercarriage.
