We are opening pre-orders for the F-86H Sabre “HOG” in 1/48 scale.
The 1/32 scale kit is also ready, but pre-orders for it will open at a later date.
Orders are accepted with a lead time of up to four months. Please note that kits are produced and shipped strictly in the order in which payment is received. Your place in the queue is determined by the date of payment. Please allow up to four months for your kit to be produced and shipped.
The first kits are already packed and will be shipped this week.
Now, a little bit about the kit.
Wherever possible, we have made extensive use of 3D printing in this kit.
Why isn't the entire kit 3D printed?
As before, we remain rather sceptical about using 3D printing for large parts. Due to the nature of the technology, we believe that after a certain period of time, large printed parts may change their geometry. This is something that does not occur with resin casting, which, once fully cured, does not have this particular drawback.
Why did we choose these two particular paint schemes?
Originally, we developed and prepared for printing another version of the kit featuring eight different schemes.
However, after studying them in detail, we realized that it would be physically impossible to apply some of these decal schemes properly to the model.
The F-86H has several very specific features, including the rudder, which is reinforced with exposed stiffening ribs rather than being covered by smooth panels. On many aircraft, a large stripe runs across this area.
The fuselage also has deep air-exhaust outlets and various slots and openings.
All of this can really only be reproduced properly using paint masks.
Unfortunately, we currently do not have the possibility to further develop this technology. The war that is going on outside our windows is not exactly helping us to develop the business.
I would also like to express my sincere thanks to Mike Keel for his invaluable photographs of the F-86H. Thanks to his help, we were able to correct several unfortunate mistakes that we had made during the design stage.
And finally, I would like to thank all of our followers and customers for your patience and for the support you continue to give us during these difficult times.
