Review
This offering from MiniArt of a Junkers F13 float plane early production arrives in a cardboard tray with a separate card lid. Plastic is packed in a single plastic bag, the instructions and decals are in their own plastic bag as are the clear sprue and photo etch. While no damage has occurred to the photo etch, I do feel that there is a significant risk of damage occurring. The parts are cleanly moulded, with good access for removal of parts. There is not an excess number of gates, but some of them are on the large side. Due to the number of releases that have been previously released and reviewed, I am going to keep this short.
The interior detail of the model is of a good standard, I am sure that there is after-market sets that have been released to add further enhancement - But I am happy with what has been provided by the manufacturer. The exterior and its corrugated effect finish are very well replicated and panel lines are also well presented, which in the case of the underside of the wings I suspect was murder for the mould maker. A decent engine is replicated, but you will need to add your own wire details. Assembly of the fuselage will require some care, as a number of panels are brought together to make the fuselage complete. Some internal bracing is included that helps with this matter. Some interior wing spar detail is also included, and so the detail fans out there should be pleased. A wing spar for each side is included, but it is not moulded as a single piece and so you will need to take some care when adding the wings to the model to make sure that everything is set correctly. The new aspect of this release being the floats, look pleasing but have quite complicated bracing - the only thing I am unsure of is if any wire braces should have been included in this area as no details are provided on that subject.
3 finishing options for the model are provided:
Aero Express Ungarn, Hungary, Early 1920s
Junkers South American Promotional Tour, Early 1920s
Spanish Red Cross, Rif War, Mid 1920s
Looking over the model and the mouldings, I do feel that this is an interesting release as it has quite a quirky look that I am sure will please. The lid of this release has a puncture mark in it, but no damage to the contents was incurred.
