Strolling in to the cyber cafe this bright shiny AM...

Jan and Andy B are struggling with the movie projector for the mob movie marathon. Jean - Luc and family are over in the corner planning their next vacation / holiday...Tuscany I here . He was telling me about the Agri-tourismo's last night . farms that double as bed and breakfasts. Their thinking of the Blue Lagoon in off season just down the coast.

Where is that cook? My newest copy of Cross & Cockade in hand. I am looking foreward to my usual Sunday fare.

{...walking in the front door of the cafe' and pausing at the doorway long enough to beat the layers of dust off my clothes with my lorry drivers cap once or twice....and allowing my ears to slowly stop ringing from the seemingly non-stop droning noise of my truck engine from all the miles traveled of late............... I throw a glance almost immediately over to my right to the makeshift bulletin board made from an old nickelodeon lid and what do my weary eyes see pinned up there? Why, the announcement that one of our esteemed members is finally a Granddad!!

"Congrats!!" I shout out to the room, and receive a 'glasses up!' gesture from all present.
"Pass me a pint of that new 'Skyraider Ale' if you don't mind barkeep...need to whet this parched throat, and add my glass to the toast if you don't mind."

Now, if I can only find something to eat....."would ya pass me a menu there fella?....thx." Let's see... ....usual road kill it seems......wait, what's this on the 'Today's Special' post-it stuck to the top of the menu?....real Western-style Chili?...wellllllllllllll, shiver my Terlingua!
"Waitress, if you don't mind, could you see if cookie can hurl some of this in a clean propeller nosecone for me? Because believe me, I'm so hungry I might need 'seconds'! "And see if ya got any of that green Tabisco sauce back there while yer at it. OK?....thx.

"Hey!"......."Anybody know what they got planned for the 'flicker' show for today's matinee?"......." 'Angels with Dirty Faces" you say?........you sure?"
That'd be cool I think to myself......one of those early tales of good vs. evil, and the choices we make......plus, ya can never get enough of Cagney now, can ya?

Tread.

With this weekends flicks we're serving "illegal" booze and some cheap grub... So fellas, keep your Tommy guns and Chicago Typewriter's close at hand. also, might be a good idea to keep your engine running in your getaway cars running.... Just in case the long arm of the law shows up.

On a dark and windy night I stroll into the Aeroscale Cyber Cafe (lovingly named Sista Consupta's Peep Hole Bar and grill.) Jan is nowhere to be seen... Over in my usual spot I see Rowan and Jean-Luc and suddenly I feel like Steve McQueen in the "Great Escape."

Merlin begins..." We have to ask some strange things in our line of work ....Steve..."

To be continued.

Merlin continues... "Have a coffee old man... I want you to know that we appreciate the hard work you have done in the recent months... But there is a considerable amount of the Aeroscale airfield that has greater potential for development..."

JackFlash... "I appreciate that..."

Merlin... "And I do have those two birds in the Early Aviation Hangar that need a frightful bit of work..."

JackFlash... "Right the Sopwih 'Camel' F.1 and the the Fokker D.VII ..."

Merlin ... "Yes they need to be finished up along with several hundred other "kits" of other eras."

JackFlash... "Something's coming, I can feel it, and its coming around the corner right at me Squadron Leader Camelhill - Baylies..."

To be continued...

*stocking up the fridges behind the bar - *
Hey fellas,

Have you heard this one? Let's see if I remember this right...hmmm.

"One night, a drunk comes stumbling into a bar and says to the bartender: "Drinks for all on me including you, bartender." So the bartender follows the mans orders and says: "That will be $36.50 please." The drunk says he has no money so the bartender slaps him around and throws him out.

The next night the same drunk comes in again and orders a drink for everyone in the bar including the bartender. Again the bartender follows instructions and again the drunk says he has no money. So the bartender slaps him around and throws him out.

On the third night he comes in, the drunk orders drinks for all except the bartender. "What, no drink for me?" replies the bartender. "Oh, no. You get violent when you drink."

This is this weekends movies btw folks......

Rubs eyes and wakes up - Stephen - congratulations on the Happy event. I've been quiet for a week or so and missed this - a glass of Single malt will be raised in your direction this evening.

"The Ballad of Thunder Road"
Let me tell the story, I can tell it all
About the mountain boy who ran illegal alcohol
His daddy made the whiskey, son, he drove the load.
When his engine roared, they called the highway Thunder Road.

Sometimes into Ashville, sometimes Memphis town
The revenuers chased him but they couldn’t run him down
Each time they thought they had him, his engine would explode
He'd go by like they were standin’ still on Thunder Road.

(CHORUS)
And there was thunder, thunder over Thunder Road
Thunder was his engine, and white lightning was his load.
And there was moonshine, moonshine to quench the devil’s thirst
The law they swore they'd get him, but the devil got him first.

On the first of April, nineteen fifty-four
A Federal man sent word he’d better make his run no more
He said two hundred agents were coverin’ the state
Whichever road he tried to take, they’d get him sure as fate.

Son, his Daddy told him, make this run your last
The tank is filled with hundred-proof, you’re all tuned up and gassed
Now, don’t take any chances, if you can’t get through
I’d rather have you back again than all that mountain dew.

(CHORUS)
And there was thunder, thunder over Thunder Road
Thunder was his engine, and white lightning was his load
And there was moonshine, moonshine to quench the devil’s thirst
The law they swore they'd get him, but the devil got him first.

Roarin’ out of Harlan, rev-vin’ up his mill
He shot the gap at Cumberland, and screamed by Meanordue
With T-men on his tail-light, roadblocks up ahead.
A mountain boy took road that even Angels feared to tred.

Blazen right through Knoxville, out on Kingston Pike,
Then right outside of Bearden, they made the fatal strike.
He left the road at 90; that’s all there is to say.
The devil got the moonshine and the mountain boy that day.

And there was thunder, thunder over Thunder Road
Thunder was his engine, and white lightning was his load
And there was moonshine, moonshine to quench the devil’s thirst
The law they never got him, cause the devil got him first.
The law they never got him, cause the devil got him first.

Hi all!

I usually don't drink alcohol but may I join you with a glass of Champagne!

Unfortunately I can't stay long. I'm on my way to the south of France for some vacations. Stephen, maybe I'll see you in another uniform when I come back in ten days or so!
