Hi Guys,

I hope someone maybe able to help with any Pictures of the A4 that John McCain flew of the USS Oriskany after transferring there. I know the plane’s code was AH 300, not sure of the squadron though.

Preferably on either his last mission on any others in that particular aircraft when he flew it, also would his name have been repainted onto it as the pilot?

Cheers
Mike

The aircraft is a A-4E, the title has the dash in the wrong location. He was flying 149959 with VA-163. As the bird’s modex was 300 it would not have had his name on it, that would have been the CO’s name.

You should be able to find what you need here http://www.va163.org/

Via Wiki here is the plane 6 days before he was shootdown.

You can also review the Oriskany cruise book for that year for more information.
