Hi All,
Here's my entry for this campaign. Hobby Boss 1/48 Hawk Mk 208.
I plan to do this as a Royal Malaysian Air Force bird. Looking at the kit, all the moldings seem to be very nicely done. Although, a trend I'm seeing with Hobby/Boss is the sprue gates to the part seem awfully thick, requiring extensive clean up. I still believe this should be a nice fun build with great results!

Slight change of plan on my build.
Recently got hold of Xtradecals Battle of Malta sets, which includes a few Hurricanes.
And having the Hobbyboss quick build IIC in the stash, I thought why not? It's been collecting dust for too long.
On the bench: 1/72 Mosquito, Lightning F.6, DH.2,
AMT Vulcan Shuttle Surak.

Update #2 I hoped to have Hurri already finished, but as always something got in the way, so instead I finished painting cockpit elements. I used Alclad aluminium colour and Tamiya cockpit green (XF-71), sealed all with Hataka varnish and followed with Tamiya panel liner and some dirt/dust washes from AK.
So here are the results:

Looking good. Both kits are a lot better detailed than my choice.
Speaking of which, a little progress made today.
Fit of the wing to the fuselage was very tight and needed a little trimming to make it fit smoothly.
Thinking about the choice of decals, would there be any interest in my doing a build thread of both Battle of Malta sheets in the new year?

I am interested in joining this campaign but wish to make sure my current choice kit qualifies. I believe it might but would feel better if those in charge gave clearance according to the 25% built rule. This is the "mouldy goldie" (literally was due to a basement sewer backup):

Stephen, I'll see what I can do but I and I hope others can't expect too much from these ancient gems. From what I've found it was originally tooled in 1972 but I'm fairly certain mine is a 1990 released rebox. Detail is still a bit soft in places, the wings have been criticized for having too many rivets but there is minimal flash and only two small sink marks on the wing tops that I've noticed so far.

Airfix had it almost in continual production until fairly recently. I built one as the cannon armed tank-buster. The weapons options are one of the great features of this kit. A lot of fun can be had with it!

I had an Airfix kit when I was still in elementary school and the only thing I recall was that by todays standards the detail was almost non-existent. This '70's "retooling" has reasonable amount of detail, although soft in places, and perhaps a few too many rivets on the wings. What quite surprised me was the amount and variety of stores/ordnance that came with this kit. Three inch rocket racks, 250 lb bombs, drop tanks and what you mentioned the 40 mm cannon pods. As you can see in the following scan these items are marked as to which version they belong on.

Interior detail is totally minimal and unfortunately in test fitting the fuselage halves one immediately sees they are warped! Oh well, glad I have a good supply of clamps.
Now time to tackle the rather spartan cockpit!

Nice work Pasi! Watch out with that rigging, the Pup is definitely one of those WNW kits with little to no tolerances. I had to carve a bit away from the inside of the bottom wing to clear the cockpit formers.

Im sorry Guys, I have to pull out of this campaign, main reason being an unfinished 1/350 Agano cruiser, that was sitting in my stash for over 2 years, which started to peel off paint under masked parts, and had to be rush-finished in a coupple of weeks. Those who do 1/350 ships know thats an energy drain Im not able to overcome right now. Sorry.

Well, I've been trundling along with this Hobby Boss kit. I'd say that it's an ok kit, though I'd expected a bit more following my IAR-80 build. The decals for the consul were backwards and inverted for the parts! Kind of like a mirror print. I wound up painting them and highlighting the detail via dry-brushing some grey. Looks the part.
I closed the fuselage and it's gap city!
Looks like considerable filling and sanding are in my future. Oh well, beats a good day at work! Keep having fun!

Some exceptional work being done here.
I have started the Matchbox Hawk 200; my first aircraft build in decades.... be kind
The old Matchbox kit has very little detail in the cockpit and trenches for panel lines. True believers would fill and re-scribe, but I am taking an easier path. I used Perfect Plastic Putty to fill the gaps, then after a while wiped away most of it with a damp cloth, leaving the trench partially filled. Maybe still not great, but worth a try.
Like John, a fair amount of sanding to do in the future...

I've tried to stick to the Eduard Tempest, I really have. But it just isn't doing it for me right now (NOT the kit's fault!) I need to face facts: I'm a Hurricane addict. And I don't want to get better. There, I said it!
To that end:
Now, I've built one of these Fly Hurris before, the IID, and I remember clearly the biggest issue:
That's the landing gear well, and for it to fit under the cockpit that pour plug has got to go. I really hate doing that. But what the hell, once more into the breach. Dremel tool out, and here we go...
That should do it (after the repairs are done). Smooth sailing from here on, right!

Michael just look st the size of that wheel well let alone that Hurricane. Bet my version might fit inside the cockpit with room to spare?
My version might be a newer moulded Airfix but it still encompasses many of the "old style charm" of their original kits.
I have the modest/minimalist interior partly assembled and have been cleaning up various parts to try to get the best fit possible. The images below are a partial "dry fit" assembly to investigate how the internal pieces with fit together and see what if anything needs further trimming or shaping.
