In the recent Weta Workshop flyer about their "Srocktake" pre tax day 20% off sale, Weta still has some Albatros Trilogy kits for sale-- at $151.20 which is a great price for this kit-- that's a cost of $50 per Albie, about $29 less than the original single kit. Of course you'll have to pay shipping and postage. Link below:
https://www.wetanz.com/shop/collections/20-off-wingnut-wings
The kit is sold out at WnW and at most retailers, so I'd hop on this one if you desire and Albatros in your stash. No telling how many Weta has left.

I would imagine some kits are harder to develop and research due to available materials on the subject. I do know the amount of research Wingnut does on each of their subjects is almost incomprehensible. I learned early on with the Wingnut Releases it is best to just build them and wait for the next one to come out. Even if it a release I didn't think I would like, I actually enjoyed it thoroughly. Never did I think I would build a Stahltaube, but it has somehow moved up on my workbench to the coveted "Next to be built" position.

Also remember there are figures to be released. I think (HOPE) the figures might be released with some of the remakes of sold out kits. But we can never really know what these gaps will be filled with until they are filled. And Stephen Lawson is correct in his assertions.

So just sit back and enjoy the ride.

Stephen, really nice work-- I especially like you brass work around the louvers and engine. I carved mine our, but yours looks more convincing. Not the easiest kit to build for sure.

Thank you the Brengun brass is a joy to work with.

I hadn't noticed the gaps in the numbering system. Interesting to see what, or if, they will be filled with.

It's always interesting to see what they will release as it's always something impressive and not just another P-51 (Airfix I'm looking at you).
I would love to buy more than I have done and regret not grabbing some of the oop kits, such as the Sopwith Triplane and Hannover. Unfortunately my situation didn't allow at the time. That's now changed so I have been acquiring a few that I really do like the look of when I can. I'm especially glad I bought the Pup and Pfalz D.IIIa when I did. Even the Fe2.B. It gives me nightmares looking at it, but I'm glad I did. I can't see that being reissued when it sells out. I know that next on my list is the Roland D.VI.
In the meantime I really should get the Rumpler I started finished.

Well, another WnW kit has "bitten the proverbial dust". The Fokker DII/III "Early" kit #32018 has gone OOP and is no more. I've updated the list at the begining of this string. That's 22 WnW kits that are now OOP. Still no sign of that "surprise" April duellist kit we are all thinking might be released of a Camel and a Dr I to honor the passing of the Rot Flieger!

Can't say I'm surprised given the sale. They still have the E.1 and IV in stock.
My DH.9A arrived safely at the weekend and what a kit that is. Can't wait to get stuck into it once I've cleared the desk of some other projects.
I'm undecided about grabbing the Fokker DVII or Pfalz DXII while the sale is still going. Something tells me that the Fokker may be selling more. Don't seem to see the Pfalz built very often.

That would be interesting to see. But I doubt such figures will be made public.
Just saw the sale has ended, I should have been quicker with the Fokker.

I did hear of the numbers being related to how many actual aircraft were built , this sounds absurd , but I've heard dumber things about WNW.
I'm designing a small addendum decal sheet for the Gotha, just wondering about quantity's to order.

The DXII has certainly been in their catalog much longer than the Early DVII, but if you go buy the quick sell outs of thier other Fokker DVII kits, I suspect that one will sell faster. The Pfalz is not the most beautiful of the German aircraft with that chunky radiator right up front, so I can see why it's been on thier list longer. This could also mean it's stockage level is smaller. Why not buy both!?!
VR, Russ

P.S. About three years ago, my wonderful wife got me the Pfalz for an Xmas present, along with the new (at that time) W-12 kit. I hadn't asked for it, but she thought I might like it. The kit was nice, but not one of my favorites, so I managed to trade it to a local shop for a Pup that had come in on trade. The Pfalz does have some interesting camouflage schemes, and there's one on display here at our Museum of Flight, but now that the Pup is OOP, I think I made the right decision. I'll probably regret it later if it goes OOP. One thing about WnW kits-- it doesn't matter which one you buy, you can always count on a superb kit.

Yes, the Pup is one I am definitely glad I bought along with the Snipe. I wasn't too disappointed in not getting the Albatros D.V. A great looking kit certainly, but I have several 1/72's and 1/48's in the stash that have that one covered along with Roden's big D.III. Not in the same league I know, but they do look great with some work.
To be honest I'm in the same situation with the D.VII. Several in smaller scales already. I did make a decision a while back not to buy anything else I already have in another scale to try and cut back on spending and the stash. But that kit looks amazing.
The Pfalz D.XII is ticking a lot of boxes for me though. Late war, unusual type, cool colour scheme and lozenge cammo.
I might just have to flip a coin!

So... it looks like we may be filling another of the WnW "gaps". They've made an announcement that something is forthcoming for the Wellington Expo show on the 21st of April (coincidentally the 100th year anniversary of the Barons death-- but they don't make any connection in the announcement). They do state "if everything goes well" between now and the 21st they will have some news, if not, they will make the announcement in Japan in May-- whoooo hoo!

Well-- after many years on the market, kit 32001, the Junkers J1 has finally sold out at WnW, making 23 sold out kits. It was released as thier first kit in April 2009. However, since it appears WnW is re-releasing kits now as "specials" maybe they will bring it back combined with thier new D1, for those who are adverse to riggging! I've updated the list at the beginning of this thread. The Junkers is certainly their longest-lived kit, at over 9 years on the market.

For anyone interested (if anybody still is) I've revised the WnW list at the beginning of this post to include WnWs new Halberstadt -- kit 32049 to be released sometime this year (2018). For anyone keeping track, that leaves 17 empty "gaps" in the 76 kit numbers announced so far-- still a lot of room for that red Triplane to show up!! It's remarkable (and historymaking) that WnW as a single company has done so well in marketing so many significant aircraft types from an entire World War in a large scale. Guess it helps to have one of the biggest names in filmmaking as your biggest champion!
