Hi Charlie,

I have to admit... I enjoy - forgive me - crappy kits! They provide great opportunities to take some low risk chances in trying out new techniques. You've got the right idea; be bold, throw some paint around! You will undoubtedly learn something, and even if it is a total disaster you are only out seven bucks, right? I built the Lindberg Scharnhorst years ago, made a glorious mess of it - but I still had a great time, and learned a lot.

I am having a lot of fun!! I am gonna try some things with this one and it doesn't bother me much of it isn't perfect. This site has been a hug inspiration to get back into modeling again. Even with the limited time I have, I love it!!

And then you realize you have enlisted to a campaign and not even told the world what model you'll be finishing

For this campaign i will attempt to finish the Italeri S.L.C. 200 "Maiale". I started this kit a few years ago. Construction wasn't problematic, if i remember correct. The PE bits are fiddly, but doable. I primed the kit with Vallejo UK Bronze Green, the figures with (i assume) Vallejo Black primer. Then put the model in a box when moving town and have not opened it up since then.

These are the bits in the box:

And this is everything taken out:

Only 1 small piece of PE broken off. Not a bad result

Got a little work done this weekend.

Taped off the hull but didn't break out the AB yet.

Hand painted the deck. Let me tell ya, there are two ways I thought of doing this: Painted the whole piece deck color and hand painting the little bits, or the wrong way. Guess which way I chose.

Either way, progress!!!

Keeping this thread alive!

Got some AB done this weekend

Also painted some 53 Corvette pieces since I got the black out. You can see some in the background.

Touched up the deck and TRIED to hand paint some Tamiya. I would say at best, I got mixed results.

Then I had to make dinner and be a functioning adult for a little. Then I got some paint down real quick before bed time.

That Hull Red sure looks brown in the jar. Would like to add in a little bit more red on my next ship. and Hey!! Did my own boot line and it turned out ok!

Dry fit all together as of this morning

Now I need to seal it up and start the weathering so make it look half way decent.

Thanks for looking!
