I put the Yak-7V back on the shelf and pulled this F6F to finish. It has waited long enough. Eduard shipped the missing ailerons, so I will finish this in FAA color scheme.

Been a while on this one, might even be THREE HQ campaigns old..
RoG/Italeri Su-34 warts and all. There is a thread over on ARC where this kit is superior to the Trumpy $$$ one in several regards, but this one has been a wip (loosely) since before that kit was even a dream in Trumpeter's land.

Begemot Su-27 family stencil decals, not for the faint of heart..

Mike, that is a lot of decal stencils. Good luck.

I am trying to finish an Eduard F6F Hellcat Mk II and have been using IPMS Stockholm's color chart for FAA color comparisons. I use Tamiya mainly. the colors mentioned are XF-62, XF-63, and XF-71. I am questioning XF-63 for the grey, it looks too dark to me and wanted to get some advice.

Bob,
Thankfully the stencils are for both early and late flanker family members plus ordinance across the boards much of which I'm not using. Still, the Begemot decals are not for the faint of heart.
I'm not much of a fleet air arm expert. Generally the Stockholm color list is pretty good but Tamia paints are always the best match. Have you tried asking over on the aircraft resource center forums?

We've got wheels and weapons.. probably not a 'realistic' loadout, but a sexy one..

Some paint touchups, remove the canopy mask, add the pitot and we're done!

Not a contest worthy build by any stretch of the immagination, given the level of my skills 10+yrs ago when I started the build, but it will look fine in the display case.

Hey, everyone. I'm working on a Heller Amiot 143 that is presently in the Unfinished Builds 2017 campaign. It was suggested that I enter it into this campaign (I've been "working" on it for the past couple of years on and (mostly) off. My question is this: is it cool to have one kit entered into 2 campaigns? If so, I'd like to join this one since it is definitely a hangar queen!

Hi again Karl, I think it was me over in UB who steered you over here.
Sorry, rules say one campaign per build, but if you are like me (us) and you've got a few more on the shelf of shame, bring them out and join the fun.

Walking the walk..
Off the shelf of shame (15+yrs..) and into the display case.

Revell of Germany's 1/72 Su-34 with Trumpeter, Hasegawa, ICM (??) and maybe DML weapons, Akan paint, and Begemot Su-27 family stencils.

I've lost track of when I actually started this kit. But it was back before Trumpeter was even a brand, much less making 1/72 ac. It sat stalled for a LONG time knowing I'd never match the funky blue green paint scheme. Then came the 'eggplant' scheme and Akan paints and it got a reprieve. I did not add the cockpit curtains, correct the length of the stinger, or scratch in the apu exhaust in the stinger.

But I will wait for the Trumpy kit to come down in price and take another run at this bird. This time in the blue/green scheme.

Now it's done and it is good to see that my skills have increased a lot since I started this kit, but I've still got a long way to go on 1/72 ac.

and... finally!

Next???...

I cant get the gallery to take the pics. I cleared out space in my account (deleted old pics) get pics selected, hit upload, briefly flash to the 'wait here and we'll take you to your pics' message and then get a 'page unavailable 500' error... Anyone else having this problem?

Thanks, Mike. I figured as much but thought I'd check. I do have an ICM Sikorsky Ilya Muromets bomber that I've occasionally worked on over the last year. I'll enlist that one here. Problem solved.

Now for another problem: Isn't there supposed to be an enlist button? I followed the link from page 1 ("enlist here") but I can't seem to enlist.

Hey Karl!

Are you logged in when you go the campaign enlist page? If you're not logged in, you won't be able to see the enlist button or enlist in the campaign.

Alrighty! Thanks, Mike. That was most likely the issue. In any case, I'm enlisting with the aforementioned Ilya Muromets. Pictures to follow shortly.

progress warts and all.. probably a shelf queen for 20 yrs. Older than my son certainly.
Probably not going to build the DML weapons mount or fill the interior with figures, I'll hopefully wait for the 1/35 Kittyhawk kit, if it ever surfaces...

Add the tail rotor and antenna, fix the tail stinger and missing blade antenna, peel the BMF from the windows and clean them up... done by weeks end???

Another one bites the dust...

I was VERY pleasantly surprised that 20 yr old Bare Metal Foil under 3-4 layers of paint and topcoats still comes off clear parts and that 20++yr old Krystal Kleer is still up to holding them in place while the BMF is scraped off!

Pretty happy with the green tint to the upper windows. REALLY hope Kitty Hawk retools their D to 1/35. THAT would be a kit I would go to town on!

Off the shelf of shame and into the display case.

Some splendid results here and ... I enlisted as well to this campaign. The problem is... which plane am I going to finish?

Its not so much that I don't have a hangar queen, its having to many of them that makes it difficult to decide. In fact, I don't have only a hangar queen, I also have the King, The queens mother, a few princes and princesses, and half of the nobility on the shelf of shame.

Most of these models were confronted with some "difficulty" along the build varying from worthless decals to being put aside because I got bored with the model. Most of them are not very good kits to start with, which explains as well that they got cornered at some point.

But I must finish a few of these, not only because on 1 November I start building a B-52 in 1/48 scale for the "lost art" campaign and that will keep me busy for quite some time.

Now I need to decide which one comes fisrst

Now here it is (at least when I won the fight with the kitmaker gallery)

It ended up on a shelf for several reasons:

> its a tail sitter and I should have checked this before glue-ing it together
> I found the kit on a hobby show, and it must have been 20 years old by then. Consequence the decals were as yellow as possibly could be.
> it is from SMEG, detail is "not prefect" which on its own already reduces the ambition to finalise it.

But hey, now I have new decals and I want it to stand next to my MIG-15.

I only have to figure out how to add more than 50 grams of lead to the front without ruining it completely.

I let my airbrush set for 30 days and WOW! It bit me when I tried to use it this morning for (6) airplanes that I thought I would paint. Not only did the airbrush fight, the pump and the quick release attachments were all angry.
Cleaned the airbrush again and found some rust on the needle. After a couple of hours I removed the quick release adapters and reinstalled Teflon tape to the fittings on the pump after a leak was detected.
Was finally able to paint (5) a/c in phases such as upper or lower surfaces.
I will use the photo cube for the first time tomorrow to post photos.

Ive finally prepared two a/c for paint tomorrow. Not sure you can see the pencil outline for the 3 different colors on Hellcat Mk. II, the Yak 7V has been painted the green now for the black.

Yak 7 after a/b session, the F6f will need to wait till I am able to get the a/b cleaned. The black really seeped into the body of the a/b.

Hi all,

Now that my Spring and Summer modelling brake is over (it was exceptionally long this year), i started working again on my Mig-21. Finishing this model was a prequisite for starting working again on my P-47.

I my last post was in February and back then i was busy with adding all the decals.

RIght now, i have almost completed my micro Mig. All decals were added followed by a gloss coat of Alclad Clear (by brush). Then i added a AK-47 wash (Kriegsmarine grey), followed by a matt coat from the can. This is where she is right now:

The last thing I have to do is to paint and add the canopy and the AA missiles from Shelf Oddity. And then take decent pictures

Great to see so many builds getting finished! Well done, guys.

I have finally made some more progress on my Edouard 1/48 Bf 110. It will be made into a what if jet engineed heavy support aircraft with a glide bomb underneath. Still a ton of stuff to do, but at least it is taking shape.

More to follow

Some progress on my Me 110 model 1947 or whatever it should be called. The jet engines are in place and the wings and tail is shortened.

I have magnetized the weapon options on the underside. I made a 6 bomb rack, a massive heavy glide bomb and a 75mm AT gun.

Next is a white base coat and then probably some more sanding and filling.

More to follow
