While the campaign moderators look over the submission I'll ask for ribbon suggestions as my skills in this area are worse than lacking!

Okay gentlemen time to put your plastic or resin where your mouth is so to speak! Campaign is now open for enlistment and we have 4 starters including myself. Welcome aboard to those that have signed up, there's plenty of room left for those that have not!

I'll post some pics later today of the resin kit I got of the Astrokit 1/48 MC.200 serie I Seatta for the princely sum of $30.00 NZ Dollars. Really nice kit all resin components, great looking engine, all gear doors are truly thin and nicely detailed. However there are quite a few air bubbles in the fuselage castings that will need filling before assembly. Cockpit looks fantastic just lacks a little photo-etch to set everything off.

I've also just recently acquired a Classic Airframes Cr.42 Falco from the battle of Britain era. Spoiled for choice at the moment, just trying to figure out when this fascination for Italian aircraft became a mild obsession?????

HI Chris,
My suggestion for your obsession would be to lay off the mutton and eat more spaghetti.

Here's my entry:

It's my first limited run kit, and after my first bit of joy at having such a lovely shaped aircraft to build, it's detractors weighed down my desire to complete it. For instance, the tail wheel could have come from anything. So, I may have to pinch a tail wheel from my spares.

Anyway... Viva l'Italia

Thanks for that Gaz I'll take it under advisement .... I've certainly been making more lasagna recently. Love the choice of kit buddy just shows what the addition of a great motor can do for an airframe!

What's else is wrong with the Tasman kit other than an undefinable tail wheel? I've been looking at these kits and wondering how they stack up. I know that the 1/48 scale Boomerangs are the old kiwi wings kits where you build pretty much everything on the inside. How's the interior detail of the Re2005? And what colour are you using for the interior?

Chris,
I'll tell you a few things about the kit. You'll want something to mill away excess plastic. Fit is made by removing excess, not by using putty.

Surface details are weak and scant. I needed to find some decent line drawings.

Because the plane is in many ways a departure from the rest of the Reggiane fighters, details on the landing gear are scarce.

There are no points inside the A/C telling you where ro put the landing gear. The gear themselves are cast lead.

I had to scratch one half of one main wheel, one side of the cockpit, and have to do a spinner base, yet.

If you want a lot of work and a lot of research, this kit is for you.

The green I used was a poor rendition of the apple green used in most Italian planes. I was just guessing when I chose it.

Since I worked on it last, I've learned a liitle search engine trick. If you can't find what you want on an English language site, enter your question or aircraft part in the native language.

Lemme know if I can be helpful with anything else.

I've looked over your build log for the Re2005 and I feel your pain buddy the Kiwi wings kit is pretty much the same. Thanks for the info buddy I use Humbrol H120 for the interiors. And thanks if I have any more questions I'll gladly let you know.

Any ribbon ideas gentlemen? I'll take a quick course in ribbon construction and see what I can come up with.

Hi Guys I've spent my afternoon taking a crash course in gimp and trying to come up with a ribbon. Here's what I've got so far a combination of the three roundels for the Spanish civil war the Regia Aeronautica up to 1943 and the roundel after 1943 it looks kind of .... gimpy. Now I just have to convert it into a gif to make it usable!

Hi, guys!

There is my attempt to a campaign badge and banner. I hope you like it. I know it doesn't cover the whole period / idea, but 50x20 pixels it's a very cramped space...

Cheers!

Hm... strange. I can see them on both my phone and tablet. Anyhow, your badge is more comprehensive and best choice. I love it.
Cheers!
