Hm this sounds interesting. Based on how many thins I will be having on the table in November I might join, have a few kits which would match the criteria:

Checked my 109 G-10 this weekend and found it to actually be a K-4. So far I've found the differences to concern the wing bulges, for which smaller ones are supplied, so that's taken care of, and the hatch for the first aid kit, which can be rescribed (a thing I've never done before) but everything else seems to be very similar. Does anybody here know of anything else on the skin to be different? I'm going for a fully enclosed plane, so engine differences will not be visible.

Not sure about the tail, Tony. Maybe a 109 Expert will check in.

I'm thinking Japanese for my entry. I have the following options:

Ki-61 Tony
Ki-84 Frank
J2M3 Raiden

All Hasegawa 1/32 kits. Choices, choices!

Hi guys.

The investigation goes on. It seems like Revell have made a booboo on their 109-K4, so the first aid hatch is placed according to a G-fuselage. Now, for the tail, I've found no visible differences on the profiles and 109-websites I've found, but if somebody has info, I'd be glad. If I'm to build a specific plane, I do't want to hang my a** out with mistakes.

Hello modelers,

how about a Me 163 B-1a. This egg is from 1944, but I have decals of a 6./JG 400 of May 1945 (so the writing says in the Revell instruction). Would this be okay?

Oliver,

As long as it's marked as in 1945, you're good to go.

Would I be able to put my P-38M into this? I enlisted her for the Fork Tailed Devils campaign but haven't gotten any further than washing the parts. There is no way I am going to get her finished for that campaign, or even make any progress for that matter. I might as well just shelve her until this starts if that is acceptable?

Paul,

Fine with me as long as it's from 1945!

Hi Tony,
In years of study, I've never heard of or seen anything indicating different tall wooden tails.

Best Wishes,
Gary

How do you all feel about this as a ribbon? Simple and to the point:

Michael, the instruction says the "white 54" should be of 1945, but if there is any doubt, I will put an US inspection team aside . So I will be in with a Me 163, called "white 54". As the reference is uncertain about the color scheme, does anybody have a proper profile for the "white 54".

Like Your ribbon very much. As You said, simple and on the spot.

Hello Lillen,

I am no Expert, but my reference says, the G-10 had a Master compass hatch, deleted on the K-4. Additionally, the Fuel filler was moved forward from G-10 to K-4 and the DF-loop shifted rearward. But, no information about the bulges or the tail. Certainly new were wheel well covers on some k-4 for the outside.

That is all I found. But, as everything was used in the late years of the war, I would check a reference photo of the plane You want to build.

I have Hasegawa's 1/32 Focke-Wulf Fw190D-9 'JG4' which was given to me from a friend. The markings include Stab/JG4, Germany, March 1945 and JG301, Germany, May 1945.

Okay guy's and gals I'm in with Hobbycrafts Me109K-4! I've got the Cooper detail set for the cockpit with replacement tail wheel, gear door covers, exhausts and etch seat belts. Should look rather good when finished and coincidentally this will be the first time you lot have seen me work with resin.

I usually build out of the box but when I bought this kit it had the cooper detail set inside and it seems a shame not to use it. Although not originally designed for this kit (designed for the Monogram kit re-released by Revell) Ray does suggest that the Hobbycraft kit would benefit from its use in the instructions. So benefit it will! Here's a pic of the kit and resin goodies although not much can be seen whilst in it's bag. If you are interested in exactly what's in the detail set I'll post a detailed set of pics and description.

Thanks Michael, Actually I think I'll show you what's in the Cooper detail set. It's no longer in production (although I'm not to sure) but it's still available on eBay every now and then and worth while getting if you can. I'll just have to take a few detail pics of the bits and pieces and get them on here.

Well, it's Nov. 1 in Greenwich which is good enough for me. This campaign has now started. To discuss the campaign and post starting and in-progress pics go to the official campaign thread. This current thread will now be locked.

Looking forward to it!

Michael
