Thanks Peter!

And just like that, boom, it's done!

Simple tape seat belts.

At the last minute I discovered I hadn't installed enough nose weight. I almost tested the model's aerodynamics but then decided to see how many small fishing weights I could jam under the front instrument panel. The answer was: enough.

Very nice kit that confirms my opinion about the new Airfix; they're back up there with the big boys now. Unreservedly recommended.

Thanks guys! Gary, it was active from 1956-68 so it's a real Cold Warrior.

@Michael - awesome job on the flatiron, I really need to add one of those to the stash, and I completely agree with you, Airfix have really upped their game recently, I just got hold of their recent 1:48 Hurricane and I was amazed about the huge jump in detail levels compared to their old kits

Also, I'm just dropping in to say I'm not dead, I just moved to the midlands so I have not had much time at the bench, the black widow is finished and I will upload the finished pics soon, I'm still in this thing! There will probably be a small hiatus before I can start the N1K as I have a couple of builds on the go, but hopefully I can start that one soon too

Hello mates,
I'm at last near the completion of my MiG-31. Decals are on, the canopy and the R-77s yet missing. Then a little weathering for the panel lines, rudders etc. and she's ready

Hope to finish work during next week, then photos for the gallery will follow

The Black Widow is finally done! Or rather, I finally remembered to take the photos of the finished model, it has been finished for over a month now!

Please excuse the mint wrapper and bottle top nose support, it just falls off without something there to prop it up on!

Unfortunately I missed the slight paint spill on the right wing flap, and there is a small layer of dust over the model now because I forgot to dust it off but hey there it is, I am planning to start on the N1K some time soon but I'm not sure when

Cheers, Simon

Nice work gentlemen!

Simon,
Your P-61 looks great! I like the way your chipping came out.

Peter,
Nice looking Mig! Looks like it's ready to leap off the tarmac to do some damage.

I was thinking of a change to F22 Raptor. I take it this would count as an interceptor although it tagged superiority fighter.

I think if it's configured for air intercept, it would qualify.

Thank you all for the feedback on the Black Widow, I'm really glad you like it!

@Michael - This P-61 has a nose AND tail support, it really is a bit hopeless for a display piece, lucky I don't take my handiwork to shows and events, it would never stand up. Literally in this case
