On it's wheels now. I've deliberately left the tail boom off for now so that it's easier to handle.

Finito

Overall this is one of the best Revell kits I've built for a long time. Zero fit issues, almost zero flash and ejection marks in places they won't be seen. Low points - trying to get those decals matched up!. I nearly switched to the alternative HMS Endurance scheme, but these display markings are the reason I bought this in the first place!

Dave: Very nice finish. I like the markings of this lynx, too. They turn out great onto Your model!

Doug: I have a question concerning Your build. How do You paint the pre-assembled parts? The SW4 on the photo seems to be nearly complete!
Earlier, I tried to assemble all major components of a kit, but when painting the pre-assebled components, it became a mess. So now, I paint first and assemble later.

Finally its done. I decalled my little chopper and weathered it slightly. I guess, these birds were well maintained and I have overdone it, but, I like it this way .

Hope You like it too.

Probably I will try to make a small diorama of it. WeŽll see!

the sub assemblies are not glued together yet, rotors, seats, instrument panel, seats, etc will all be painted separately and the interior is pretty easy to get to with an airbrush as it is.

Doug: What a nice dry fitting! Than the parts are just sticking together without any glue! Thank You for Your fast answer!

to be clear most of it is glued together but there are still substantial sub assemblies that will be glued together after painting.

I have a question about this campaign since it wasn't discussed in the guidelines. Are what-ifs allowed? Because I have a Mil-24 Hind with no decals which is otherwise new in-package.

Martin
another guy asked the same question and yes they are welcome as long as they have rotating wings.

Hi Everybody
Decided that it was time to get at one of the helicopters that I have on my shelf. For this build I decided to do the CH-149 Cormorant. I have the Italeri 1/72 EH-101 Cormorant kit and plan to do it out of the box with new decals from Belcher Bits and a couple of bubble windows I scrounged up.

Hope to get started on it this weekend

This is where i am as of the end of the week.
Got the horrible yellow dulled down with a thin glaze of yellow ochre to give it a warmer hue. Started painting detail and attaching all those fiddly breakable parts
Not far off sealing it all up with future and getting the decals on.

Paul: I think You hit the right tone! Looks good! How will You bring on the decals on all these rivets?

Thanks man, I think three or four bottles of microsol should do it 😉

I managed to get in some good time on decals recently.
Oliver, you got it in one : those rivets !
I've hit them with microsol a few times and gently rolled a cotton bud over them from the center outwards. Then i press with the end of the cotton bud on troublesome rivet areas and kinda rotate it to press the decal into the rivets.
Working pretty well so far i have to say.

The black step marking on the left is freshly applied, no solvent. The squadron insignia has been microsol'd once and the big text decal has been hit three or four times.

Here's where she's at currently

*edit* Note the handy bottle holder made of blu-tac. I nearly upset the bottle earlier so i'm making it harder to tip over. :/

Very nice result, Oliver. Great colorful build.

Paul, speaking of colorful Nice progress on the decals. Seems like you get them to settle perfectly over the rivets. Looking forward to see more.

Here is the beginning of my entry for this campaign. A mixed bag of resin chunks that will hopefully turn into a futuristic Hind on steroids.
Not a lot of parts, but a lot of cleaning up to do.

More to follow soon

Paul: The microsol works good on those decalled rivets. Probably I have to try this solvent, too!

Jesper: Thank You for Your comment. Looking forward to see Your doped Hind! Seems there will be a lot of sawing and sanding.

DONE !
1/72 Airfix Sea King HAR3

Had a lot of fun with this one once i got over the hump of the bad fit around the nose and canopy. I wouldn't recommend the airfix sea king from that point of view but on the plus side it has got me thinking of other choppers i'd like to add to my wish list.

Paul: This was really a hard to build kit. Congratulations to Your good result! Will You built one more chopper in the lifesavers campaign?

Thanks guys, it looks a lot like it's meant to so that's a start 😉 Once again, lessons learned, new skills to think about and a craving for new tools lol. Bring on the next project!
A chopper in addition to the lifeboat i'm starting for Lifesavers? Interesting.......

Nice build, Paul. Something that will definitely stand out on the shelf.

I have a bit more progress on my chopper. Next is a lot of sanding and adding some serious armaments. More to follow soon.
