I seem to have lost my camera, so the pictures were taken with an iPad. Still learning the ins and outs of its camera, so if I can get some better pictures I'll post them!

Hi,

Getting the last 2 days of vacation, I decided to plunge into one of my several shelf of doom kits. So before getting seriously into my Alphajet for the National Pride Campaign, I feel this Hasegawa 109 K deserves some love.

I once (2-3 years ago not sure) I started this bird, up to the point of painting it up only to find that the camo colors were wrong. That and surely some other issues of live got it back inside the box till 2 days ago.

This was how it was out of the shelf (I removed the camo and started pre-shading somewhere in time...)

And this is how it's going today...

Using Montex masks for balkenkreuz and numbers, but found that the lower crosses are severely under scaled so will use some decals from spare box on those.

Cheers
Pedro

I'm looking to resurrect my Corsair (Tamiya F4U-1A, 1:48 scale). I started it last year, but put it away after I lost some interest. I'm back to it, and hope to get it done. It's largely done, needs some touchup on the cockpit, as well as some seam work.

Other than that, its just a matter of waiting for the current cold snap to finish so I can paint it in the garage without the paint getting messed up.

hola Pedro, glad to see another one of your Luftwaffe machines getting finished.

Johnny O, welcome aboard, the F4U is a great favorite, I hope to see yours finished, and since we have all year, there is no pressure!

I just enlisted.

That's 4 campaigns for this year which is slightly over-ambitious.

1/48 Eduard F6F-3 + Wolfpack wingfold

Like many others, I am going to finish my Grumman Campaign entry here instead since I was too slow. I mostly need to finish painting and decals so I can do some final assembly. Here is where I left off in Joel's campaign:

It shouldn't take me long to get her done, then I have 3 or 4 others sitting around I may try to finish up.

Okay so I went through (what turned out to be more than I expected) my hangar Queens:

Nieuport 17: I made a start. Immediately broke the top wing off and wisely moved on.

ICM Bf109f: Utterly hopeless.

Airfix Seafire FR47: fell victim to an experiment with mineral oil. Still too greasy to work with.

Revell Gannet: Huzzah! I recall the reason I gave up on it was frustration with the weapons Bay that I wanted to display open. Solution--> Close it.

Here's where it stands.

Greetings All,

Some interesting builds for this campaign here.

I've enlisted in this Campaign with these 4 Queens and hopefully unlike last year I can get them finished.

Apart from the contract builds, I'm also involved in building subjects for a club display for June.

Rob.

A quick update:
It seems that I lost a lot of motivation to push ahead now that the Grumman Campaign is over... but this will do..

Here are two pictures as to my latest progress:

I use two colors of AK to simulate the exhausts stains..
going from lightest tone along the length of the aircraft
and with ever dark drop of color I shortened the length of spray.

All I need is to start gluing the final pieces...

SOON!!! very soon she'll be done!

I'll be doing the Accurate Miniatures "George Bush" Avenger as a TBF-1C of the fleet Air Arm. Looking at the Date on the box this might be the 10th anniversary of the starting of the kit!

Hi folks,

as I could finish the last two HQ campaigns, I came to like these campaigns a lot.
For this I remembered an old HH-53C kit (1:72) from Fujimi which I bought in 1991 at the IAT at Fairford/UK. I also discovered that it is indeed partly painted and some parts glued, probably in 1997(?).
So I throw it in and join the campaign.
Looking forward to your builds!
Cheers Pete

Can I come on board with this Tamiya 1/48 Ki-84 Hayate which was started for last year's "Land Of The Rising Sun" campaign, but which foundered horribly along the way!

FINALLY!!

Although 21 days short of it original completion date; Grumman Campaign, ......... It is done!!!
I had the 1/48 Eduards F6F-3 Hellcat kit but also added Eduards R-2800 engine: Perfect match for this kit, the only surgery was to sand down the motor mount on fuselage to accommodate the engine. Also Wolfpaks wing fold kit: The only issues with adding this kit was the wing root isn't a perfect fit to kit fuselage and the two pieces that make up the landing bay walls have a fit issue, they don't have much to attach themselves to on the underside of the wings, I drilled an anchor hole on wing and the two pieces to make a secure fit/attachment to wing.

None the less Eduard kits are a magnificent fit and well engineered.

Here are my finished pics:

Whew!!!!...
What to build NEXT???

Just dug out another Hangar Queen to take the place of a Yak-9 I'm having a mountain of troubles with. Perhaps the Yak will become a Hangar Queen itself! That said I'll have pictures up of my second entry, a Revell 1/48 F-86 Sabrejet.

Greetings All,

Some great builds are progressing along.

I spent a bit of time putting some decals on my A1h Skyraider, as my subject depicts the box art, the AK and serial number decals have not yet been added to the tail, next in line is to clean up all the weapons, as I'm undecided as to what weapons this bird will carry.

Tobar, that is a beautifully finished kit. C[
the engine cowls open to show the wonderfully detailed engine is very appealing.
please put your finished pics in the campaign gallery

Rob Storey, Sir, good to have you on board, fine looking Skyraider. will be good to see it through.

1/48 Eduard F6F-3 + Wolfpack wingfold

I finished all of the major painting, I need to gloss her up for decals once the enamel cures. I actually bothered to do the proper 4 color "tri-color" scheme for a change. It turns out there really is a difference between NSSB and GSB shades. I painted her up according to the Monogram guide on navy camo with non-specular sea blue and gloss sea blue in appropriate areas. I used the NSSB to mottle the gloss wings and help weather the paint a bit. I really like the way it came out at the end. I may lighten some areas even more to add to it.

now I just need Future, decals, chips and stains, and maybe a little additional post shading to finish her.

PJ that's dam close to done, and good looking stuff!
it's quite amusing how many Grummans there are in the thread.

I've been opening boxes of hanger queens tonight.

Have done more in the past 2 days than in the previous 6 months! Good to be back at it. Trying my hand at salt chipping, and masking off the Hinomarus. Some confusion here - certain references show the white home defense bands extending from leading edge of the wing right the way back, and completely around the fuselage - others (as per instructions) are constrained within a panel.
