Thinking of it another way, the underlying idea is that this GB would be for aircraft overlooked as modelling subjects, or overshadowed in the general public' s consciousness by more famous aircraft.

It is interesting that the builds permitted are overshadowed because other aircraft produced by that nation had a better reputation or the producing nation never got it right. So permitted builds are anything Italian, French, Dutch, Polish,most Japanese and Australian plus anything that was less successful from the other participating nations. That does not mean was overshadowed in performance, ability or quantity. The Macchi 205 and Mitsubishi Raiden were superb, the Polikarpov I-16 and P-39 were produced in huge numbers, many of these will have been obsolescent by the time they were used, like the Fiat and Gloster biplanes and some plain mis concieved like the Brewster Buffalo, Defiant, Roc, Me-163 or Salamander. This could lead to the most varied campaign since the Lottery. Looking forward to it.

So true, I can recall a time in the late 70's, when you went to anyone's ad in Fine Scale Modeler, almost every plane listed was an F-4 Phantom II of some mark, mostly only varying by decal options. Were were luck to even find the occasional Bf-109, FW-190 or Zero, let alone any Allied aircraft.
