Had to laugh at this... no doubt once they send the tyres you'll notice something else. Is the kit part built and has been in that state for years? My 1/24 Mustang was given to me by a kid at school when I was 12; we had to give talks on our hobbies, and afterwards he came up to me and offered me this part built Mustang he'd got for Xmas, but had clearly found it all too much. There is a fair amount of glue smeared over it I recall. Then there's the BF109, also part built, but more neatly so! If you're doing one of those big planes, I just might be tempted to join you. Main problem is - what do I do with it once it's finished? My wife would probably go for setting it on fire and chucking it out the window.

Hi Matthew actually I hadn't inventoried the kit as I "should" have done when it arrived ex eBay and the canopies were the first glaring issue that I noticed it wasn't until I was looking through my second Stuka kit that I realised that the tyres were missing as well. And no it's still pristine in the plastic bags it was put in at the factory so it'll be a build from the beginning so to speak. And I'll put my finished Stuka up on the local auction site and find a home for it while recouping just a little of what was spent on it. (I've had my fun building it after all!) Please come join us I'd like to see what you build. LOL Jess has already put in a vote for the Porsche.

Yes, it has to be said that is seriously cool box art, not for nothing that on ebay one can now buy a coffee mug with a print of it (as well as the Mirage strafing the Mig 15 dogfight double box art I seem to recall).

Nice Martin! I once heard a pilot of the Bristol Freighters we used here in New Zealand describe the aircraft as 70 thousand rivets flying in close formation! I've seen an article on converting your kit into one of the type we used here but was never brave enough to give it a crack. Look forward to seeing what you do with the old girl.

well lookie what I found.

judging from the old fashioned post office code Id say this kit was made before 1963.
Previous Owner has glue together the wing halves. If that can be overlooked, I'd enter this kit in this campaign...

I also have my finger on a decal for AeroMexico.

The Airfix Comet is a 4B. Aeormexico only operated the 4C, which had a longer wingspan and pinion tanks. A conversion kit is available.

hm, the 4C wing is pretty distinctive, isnt it.
If the campaign runs and I decide to do the Mexican scheme, Ill do the wing mod as well.

If I do jump in with this I'll be sure to choose a better subject than I did last. Still no closer to finishing that thing

Oh, and 1980 is the youngest release date, right?

I figured that 1980 is a nice round number which still allows us to capture the most creative time in the history of Airfix kits.

I've also enlisted and it'll be the Airfix 1/24th scale Stuka. Possibly in the famous (infamous?) snake markings that was worn by Hubert Polz's aircraft of StG 2 Immelman. If I go that route (the Airfix decals are still very usable) I'll get Mal (of Mal's Miracle Masks) to make the masks for me and paint them on. And possibly a set of masks to do the hard edged sand over spray of the RLM70/71/65.

Thanks for this Campaign. I'm an HF member but would probably do an airliner: 737 or 747 maybe.

I found this list of moulds and dates which may be useful to people: I had thought a 727 but it turns out that's a 1982 mould.

That's a great resource! Last campaign we were using the Airfix Tribute Forum's history pages, but they're a lot more cumbersome.

That 727 was a rework of the earlier mould first cut in 1965, so it's allowed in the campaign.
