I hadn't realized the campaign was live, now, where will my sword of fate fall, now that I've enlisted?

Andrew, your lot is...

Lucky Seven: "South Asian Sensation"

Don't be AGRA-vated, you'll be CALCUTTA-ing plastic in no time, your model might go over with a BANGALORE, maybe you can CURRY favour with the admins, and don't forget to look beHINDU because you are "moving to Kashmir" and making a lovely Indian Air Force Bird!

I thoroughly enjoyed that

Cool! I SPAD, you SPAD, he SPAD, we all SPAD in the general direction of a DML 1/48 scale SPAD XIII that's now on order on evilbay and should be flying in within the next two weeks.

Rigging? Ha! I SPAD in the face of rigging! No clue, but I'll figure something out...

Looking forward to this!

SPADaroo over and out!

There are more people enlisting than I had anticipated... in the name of maintaining the ever important element of surprise I feel I should add some more categories. My thinking being, that there are nine possibilities remaining. If I draw the next three entrants, only six will remain. It will start getting to easy to calculate one's odds!

What do you all think? Should I add ten new categories (I promise not to add too many tricky ones, just one or two toughies and gimmies to keep it interesting:))

OR, should I simply put all eleven drawn pennies back in, and we may have more than one modeler per theme...

I'll see what the popular vote is by like... 11 PM Toronto time.

EDIT:

Here are the additions I would propose:

-"Iran Contra Affair" Build any aircraft with a Contra-Rotating Propeller, OR any Iranian Air Force Aircraft.
-"Need for Speed" Build any aircraft that (just cite your sources) has for any period of time held the all-out World Air Speed Record.
-"African Queen" Build any aircraft belonging to the air force of a sub-saharan African nation. (Although allowed, SAAF seems like the easy way out to me:))
-"Old Timers" Build any aircraft that has been, or was, in service over fifty years.
-"Go forth and be fruitful" Build any aircraft built in numbers greater than ten thousand.
-"Tea and Donuts" Build any British Aircraft that served with the United States, in American Livery(Military or SAR)
-"Cola and Crumpets" Build any American Aircraft that served with the United Kingdom, in British Livery (military or SAR)
-"I Am Canadian" Build something RCAF!
-"Korean Kolours" There are two Koreas... build an aircraft from one of their air forces.
-"First!" Build any racing plane (purpose designed or re-purposed) in its racing colours!

I vote for more categories, build up a library for future Lottery Campaigns.

If I may be so bold as to suggest a couple:

Czechmate - Czech piloted aircraft or Czech markings
Riff RAAF - Boys from Down Under

Cheers, D

Edit: Evilbay has helped me out as well, a Mirage Hoby 1/48 PZL P.11c is on it's way !

What would you do if you had an odd number of people enter?
I think you should have a max of ten to twenty category's and then draw/rotate back through the list.
Duplicate builds should not be a problem as types /markings and scale would give variety.

Too bad the start date is so far off...

Thinking about it Korean Kolours might be a bit hard. I think I'll replace it with your RAAF one. But as a New Zealandophile can I be cheeky and call it "West Island Air Force"?

Steven/Shuftie I should qualify that I mean offensive armament. So any bird not carrying, bombs, torpedoes, rockets, missiles, or forward firing guns or cannon.

Defensive guns are a-okay.

Thats cool. I'll rummage through the stash or nip into the shop (to the wife's chagrin).

The more ideas the better imo, for future lottery campaigns...I could do it again after this one.....it makes me build things I normally wouldn't

I usually prefer the hobby store over evilbay, but this one was a little tricky. I ended up buying a 1/48th smer supermarine walrus mk. 2 from evilbay so I am set for this campaign

Great stuff Jess! Some of those are hard! I tried to avoid anything that would compel scale though. Mostly because I hate 1/72 and 1/144, the devil's scales.

Okay this is as far past bedtime as I can go...

My decision is to add ten more themes. And, considering that the campaign start is very far off indeed. Leave Jessie's in the chamber for later on if we get a good turnout. Either way I am pert near out of ideas so the torch of coming up with themes must be passed be it now, or in some future lottery.

The new themes are in, again the frond-like appendages of fate call to me. Once more must I ladle deep into the mason jar of doom and bring forth chance's terrible wrath...

Vance, your lot is...

#24: "Old Timers" Build any aircraft that is, or was in service for more than fifty years! There's a surprising amount of grist for the mill in this category.

Turner, your lot is...

#21: "Iran Contra Affair" Iranian Air Force OR Contra-rotating propellers, either way they are neglected subjects!

Andy, your lot is...

#8: "Oh de Vichy!" This one defeated Jessica, will it fell another?

here's my suggestion for future Lottery campaigns - "Blame it on the Twin Boom" (simply any aircraft with twin tail booms!)
