Hundreds of years ago, a nostradamus warned of the coming of the:

Jar of Doom.

Ian, your lot is...

#45: Beware the contra flow Not these. These. One hub, two directions, lots of fun. In fact, I'm going to make an exception to the rule here and permit FICTIONAL aircraft. If only so this is at least technically in the running.

The Wings of Honneamise.

I will beat the drum now for this film. Infrequently anime isn't about total nonsense, and then it is spectacular. It's an alternate history of the first manned spaceflight. Those of you who clicked the link may be interested to know that it's entirely hand-drawn and coloured cel animation. Nothing even remotely resembling a computer had a role in that.

Film in its entirety.

Well found one-----the inimitable Grand Phoenix 1/48th scale Mk.46/47 Seafire with Aires Resin and Aeromaster Decals.....complete with contra-spinnie-thingies. Jar of Doom isn't so bad! Looking forward to this one.

A visit to Hannants today and £16.50 poorer but the proud possesser of ........

Yes, a Special Hobbies Tempest 2 in RIAF livery, 2 sets of decals for 2 aircraft of RIAF. First impression on opening the box was that they had forgotten to pack the kit! Eventually found it in a small bag in the corner of the box. Closer examination reveals my money is not wasted, crisp injection moulding, resin cockpit and pe details, this is not a shake the box to complete kit. I enjoyed the I-15 from Special Hobbies, looking forward to this one.

Hey chaps,
Supreme idea this, love the randomness and I am looking forward to seeing the wide selection of models.
Soo I have just signed on and this thread is huge...when do we find out what we are building?!

I am shaking already! Haha, the jar has no idea what type of modeller I am, so this could end up being totally off the wall!

Oh dear. Two for the gallows.

The bells they toll for thee, and who tugs at the ropes?

The Jar of Doom.

Chris, your lot is...

#27: "Cola and Crumpets"!It has to be an aircraft of British Design that served with the Stars and Bars corporation. Presented in American colours. Let's see.... off the top of my head: Sopwiths of all manner, Canberras, Mosquitos, Spitfires, Harriers, Felixstowe flying boats, Dh.4s?, Goshawk. I must have missed some.

Derek, your lot is...

#19: Floaters! Any aircraft that floats on water! (intentionally) I think these are underrepresented in our hobby so you must strike a blow for the flying planes and the seaboats!

(the list on page 13 is updated with names matched to lots for those interested)

Just to confirm... on the campaign listing and the page 13 list it says that I should: "Cola and Crumpets" Build any American Aircraft that served with the United Kingdom, in British Livery (military or SAR. But in you above statement you entered the opposite number: Build any British Aircraft that served with the USA, in American Livery (military or SAR. And I presume this covers any time period?
Cheers

Go with the list on page 13; it's definitive. I think that Richard allowed the excitement of the moment to confuse himself with the other option which you'll find right above yours.

You've got a lot of choices available: Martlets, Tarpons, Corsairs, Mustangs, Fortresses, Dakotas, Skyraiders, Washingtons, Sentries and many others.

apaches, phantoms, chinooks, mitchells, sea kings...

I have to cop to it. I was watching mad men at the time. My attention was divided.

Well I know what I would like to do, but naturally it has to be something 'amazing' and hard to source (why can I never desire to do something simple? Is it a modeller thing that we all do?). Anyway, this used to be based up the road from where I live, and I think it is still hanging around somewhere: http://www.airfighters.com/profiles/f-4/phantom-aaee.jpg
It is a Phantom FG1, based with the Aircraft and Armaments Experimental Establishment (A&AEE) at Boscombe Down, Wiltshire. Would anyone know an easy way to attain one of these? I tried sourcing decals, to no obvious avail and I stumbled upon the actual kit (Fujimi 1/72), which is quite expensive... It doesn't have to be these specific markings, but I would like to retain the 'Raspberry Ripple' paintscheme (the aircraft had the special marking applied for the silver anniversary only I believe).
Cheers

Would that be this one?

(Your link is apparently broken so I'm not certain). This kit was issued in 2003, so it may be available at swap meets or the like.

It works for me, how strange! Yes that is the one I was on about, but it is the Hasegawa 1/48 which I didn't know existed. Both the Fujimi and Hasegawa kits are on the upwards side of 'over my budget', sadly, so I may have to bit the bullet and try a different project. I will continue to try and source a kit or decals though. The decals are available through the old ModelDecal sheets and were sheet 72 and they are also like hens teeth!

I had kind of sworn off group builds due to my terrible ability to keep focus, but this just sounds WAY too much fun. I'm in!

I know exactly what you mean, and have only one banner and a whole lot of hanger queens so far to prove it. Good luck with your lotto. May you get a west wind instead of an eastern gale.

Lucky lucky.

So 38 contestants! Suprising considering it's a campaign designed to make you do something you don't want to do.

I wonder what the number will be at the finish line.
