oh yes.
Look through the "printer properties" options and change paper type to "transparency" . This will slow the feed way down and give the ink a few seconds to dry before going through the rollers.

Oh wow, that was perfect! Thanks John. Decals came out great. Currently waiting for the binding agent to dry so I can attempt application

it didn't turn out exactly how i wanted it and i would re-do the car as i now know how to cast resin etc as the metal was a pain to work on.

Still came out nice Paul!

Did you choose the black and white color pallet? Very artistic

Would you consider placing a blow up of the picture behind it so that the model looks like its in the picture from the perfect angle? That would give the scene a bit more context as well as add a rarely done element and give it a perspective. Just a thought.

Taking pictures of a large "small" thing isn't that easy it appears.

Here is a first attemtp at making pictures of Drabslab AFB

I realise that it will tkae a serious setup to make any decent picture of this that was NOT part of the idea

A nice line up of completed planes, and a nice looking concrete base - just needs a whole lot more light.

mine just looks like spray painted paper.
hasnt changed since I took this 'in progress' picture back in May of '13 - worse - now all packed into boxes in the top of a closet.

Gotta show I'm making progress!

Here is the nose section with a little custom artwork (the pin up and HoneyBea) using Surething Decal Maker. Works pretty well but the writing came out transparent. Not sure how to fix this in the future. If anyone has any ideas, please let me know!

Here is the whole plane with decals. The red and yellow bands are paint. Didn't want to trust so much surface area to a decal. The red 13 is also custom.

Hope you guys like!

that's pretty neat looking! the dashed walkway lines came out pretty good too.

You have immediately struck on the one drawback of home decal printing - you can't print white figures on a clear background. Printers don't include white ink, the white is translated as "no ink".

they do make white film, if you are really good with an exacto knife you can print the figures with the black outline on white film, and then cut them out.

The other approach is to match the background color. You draw a colored rectangle and place your white figures on top of that, and print on white film, than try to blend the decal into the base paint.

This works ok with a simple solid color, but for a shaded or patterned background like you have on there, there is one more approach-
photograph the model without the decal, closeup where the decal needs to be, and as square to the camera as possible, import the picture into your graphic program, crop away as much as possible and place your white figure on top of that, then print that on white paper. I havent attempted this last method myself, but ive seen it done by others with good results.

Genius John!

I can see issues striding with scale but no guts no glory. Will have to give that a try next time around. Thx

I just added a fw pictures to the campaign gallery. If Jessie finds some time, there will aslo be a feature on the troubles encountered with this one.

I ama bit disapointed that this campaign that started so promising with many outstanding idea's only has 3 finalised entries till now.

three finishers of such an ambitious campaign is not so bad. There has been one campaign where I was the only finisher!
Im sorry that over the past year I have even less real estate for model building and displays than in the past, so this campaign I had to let go by.

I know I am extremely late for the deadline but I still want to show you guys what I intended to produce for this campaign. Go through the link and you can see. It goes to another forum on Aeroscale so no worries
