That looks really great Jonathan! It looks like 1/72...is that ramp/ base something you made?

Thanks Dr.Hibbert, Its 1/144 actually, the base is a 20"x30" foam core presentation board spray painted gray and scribed with a square pattern. They are kind of quick and dirty, Id like to make better ones out of something stiffer and flatter eventually.
This is going to be a module that abuts to another module built last year, like this

Hi all!

Thought I would introduce myself and show you what I’m planning on doing. As I’m Swedish I decided that the build had to be an airplane made by SAAB. I have all of SAAB's jet fighters in 1/48 in my stash and for this build I choose the Draken mostly because it's so easy to build .

As for the diorama it's going to be a Draken being refueled and rearmed on a stretch of highway. In short it was decided in the 1950 that to prevent the air force being destroyed the airplanes were to spread out to different stretches of highway.

Here are some pics of the models and all the AM I’m going to use, as usual i bought a little more AM than originally planned but who hasn’t.


And lastly an air force badge that I’m going to fix to the base.


I have my quarterly exams coming up so I won't be doing much on it until their over but after that I plan to get going.

hm, make concrete ramps out of actual concrete, interesting concept.
The results certainly looks good!
Ill have to go into a home center and see about that material.

The first steps have been taken with the Demon:

The fit of the wings is excellent but I have to take care not to let the superglue used for the resin parts ruin the surface of the plastic



As this is a short run klit there are some obvious hurdles to take, first thing is that there is nothing foreseen to align the fuselage halfs so I added a few pieces of plastic left and right.



And, of course, a few of the resin parts don't fit the original plastic , luckily this plastic is thick enough to allow for substantial trimming



This isn't going to be an easy kit to make, the instruction sheet is nicely printed on glossy paper but remains fairly cryptic

Very interesting projects going on here!

I'm more or less ready to start up my diorama for this campaign.
I have decided to build "the usual" airfield dio with an aircraft, a few vehicles and some crew.
I will build an Eduard Messerschmitt Bf 110C from their Royal Class boxing. This is a double kit, the first Bf 110 is beeing build for the Nightfighter campaign. While I'm waiting for some parts for that one, I might as well start building this one.

The box looks a bit worn, but the plastic inside is perfectly fine:



There is quite a lot of photo etch in this boxing, but I'm not sure I will be using it all.



I will be using some resin parts though: Quickboost starboard engine, gun barrels, radio set, exhausts and drum magazines. I will also use MasterCasters wheels. I also have a set of dry-transfer stencils and the Techmod decal set. The decals are mostly for reference since I will be painting the markings on. Paintmasks are on their way from Miracle Masks.



The aircraft I have chosen was flown by Gruppenkommandeur Wolfgang Falck and placed in Aalborg-West Airfield, Denmark, in spring 1940. I believe he even flew this plane while attacking Denmark on April 9 1940. At least the last of the aircrafts 8 kill marks are from that event.



I plan on adding a fuel truck to the dio. This is the Italeri Tankwagen with SBS detail set.
Maybe I will also add a bicycle or two from the Flightpath set. These are RAF/USAAF style bicycles, but I don't think anyone will notice the difference :-)



I also plan on adding a Tamiya Volkswagen staff car with Eduard PE details, but I have not received that kit yet.

Well, don't expect a fast build. I'm a slow builder (have two little children requiring attention), this is a difficult build (to me anyways), and I'm also building the Nightfighter subject in parallel, so this is going to take some time.

Okay I changed my mind, I will be building a ww2 aircraft instead of a draken. I will be building a J8 which is a Gloster Gladiator. I’m using the sword kit and Maestro models PE the scale is 1/72. I will be building a winter scene were a J8 is being readied for takeoff in Finland in 1940. The SWAF had a volunteer regiment there called F19 during the winter war between Finland and the Soviet Union.
So I have made some progress as far as the plane goes here are some pics:

And finally a little trial that I did with a pine tree a little snow and a Storch in SWAF colors.




Lastly all you others looks like your making very good progress

bit of an update on mine...

the fokker dr.1 is now done and i'm using another body covered in cling film as a mould for the canvas sheet, i've actually done the canvas now, it looks quite good.

as for the car in the background.... i refuse to be beaten !!! the white metal car is rubbish! it might have been easier to scratch build the whole thing as i think every inch of it will need to be re-shaped as the casting is terrible. i wont mention the company but i'll never buy another one from them

Paul, have you ever thought of using the RPM kit of the Model T? Seems like it would be easier to work with and modify. I have one right now that I'm converting into a gun carriage

I couldn't resist adding this piece of equipment to my dio, its CMKs fuel trailer. Fun little kit to build, here are some build photos: I will be building a Dodge WC to tow it photos of that soon

Wasn't aware CMK made a fuel trailer and i must say that it looks great, what's the scale and were can i get one?

The scale is 1/48, they also make a 1/35 version, I believe they are still available thru CMKs website. But I got both versions on ebay
