Prompted by the discovery that I had an unfinished F-4EJ in the last Phantom campaign, I'm going to allow unfinished builds in this campaign - provided they were entered in a previous Aeroscale campaign. Evidence must be provided.

I'm sorry but we can't allow this rule as it would be unfair to those that are starting from the beginning. (especially if the entrant from a previous campaign was at the decalling or weathering stage).

We have the Hanger Queen campaign each year, so members can enter their part built kits and campaign entries and still get a ribbon for all their efforts.

There is an unwritten rule however that a kit that normally is around 10% to 15% started can be entered at the campaign leaders discretion. so I will amend the rules to that effect instead.

So, are we ready to establish a sign-up page?

I was waiting to see any responses to the rule change but as there seems to be some keenness to have the campaign live you can enlist Here

Please note that the start date is the 1st May 2013 and will finish 31st Oct 2013.

Cheers

Here are a couple ribbon proposals - one in blue and the other in green/tan:

I'm in with Hasegawa's 1/72 Luftwaffe RF-4E "Tiger Meet 1984". Been itching for a good reason to build that kit.

I guess it depends on what criteria you use for completion percentage. Parts count or overall level of completion. This is something that is way far away from being finished for me.

Still Incomplete Phantom

The current move will force it further down the road. I'm thinking of a completion date for either the 57th or 60th anniversary of the Phantom.

A F-4 in German colors? Everything looks better in a German Scheme! Then again, I wanted to build a Naval variant so I could display it as 'landing on the deck'.

I'm in - just found out that Santa (Ok, Amazon!) is bringing me Revell's reissue of Hasegawa's 1/48 FGR.2 for xmas. One question for the Phantom kit experts out there - I've not built a Hasegawa kit as yet and I've heard that they are about as good as kits get, so my question is, is it worth investing in the Big Ed set for this kit or is it good enough already?

The answer is, as always, "it depends"

For a mid-80s tooling, the Hasegawa 1/48 Phantoms are about as good as it gets. They're still pretty good for a 2012 kit. Me, I would be content with a pair of resin bang seats, and be done. Of course it can be improved with a ton of resin & EB, depends how much you want that extra detail, and how prepared you are to go through with all that pain!

For a bit of inspiration you could check out my blog that I did back in 2009 when I built an FGR1 with some added extra for a commission build.

Well, as the start date draws closer, so does the retirement of the F-4F from Luftwaffe service.....but they're going out in style with a couple of retro schemes!
