I have decided to go for a small Matchbox kit for this campaign. I cannot seem to get enough of the Matchbox kits lately.

The kit is typical Matchbox quality with soft details and lot of nostalgia. No missiles or rails are included. Two very cool decal options for Finland and Egypt are included.

Work has already started on the main fuselage. More to follow soon

Painting my camo pattern now will post pics when the camo is over

Major progress, of sorts.  Got the fuselage top glued to the fuselage
bottom/wing sub-assembly.  For anyone building the Revell/Monogram
1/48th F-106 a word of caution: dry fit these units first.  The kit was
going together rather well until I got to this step.  It may have been
something I did wrong, but the starboard sidewall and rear wall of the
nose gear well (one L shaped piece) were too tall and would not mate
correctly with the underside of the cockpit, causing a gap in the seam
between the upper and lower fuselage sections on the starboard side.  I
had to shave off about 1 to 2 mm of the side and real walls to make it
all fit.

Not that I'm thinking about changing my build, of course. Well, maybe. Anyway, do you think an F-15 is delta wing? I am fully prepared to accept the decision of the judges.

Personally I would say it would only be allowed if it fitted into the categories mentioned Here but at the end of the day the final decision lies with Justin as the campaign leader.

Well Ive rolled it around and the fact that its actually a cropped delta wing design Id have to allow it also based on the fact that I was allowed to enter my F-16I which is not a pure delta wing design either.speaking of which progress....

Keith, your F-106 is coming together very well indeed. I love the old Monogram kits, they are great value against the current prices of the Tamigawa alternatives, and with a bit of care they give a nice result.

I decided not to do anything about the gaping holes in the wheel wells because I don't know anybody short enough to stand under it and look up ! Likewise, when you look up the tailpipe you can see daylight in the cockpit, but I have a cunning plan to overcome that one. More later.

I have finished construction of my MiG-21.

The landing gear is extremely flimsy, so I could not check the alignment until the glue had set completely. To my joy the landing gear aligned almost perfectly.
However, I found out I had a tail sitter Matchbox's open cockpit was actually an advantage as I could slide some lead into the nose and drip some superglue in there to keep it in place. Problem solved.

Next is the camouflage. More to follow.

Have got the paint and a coat of future on the Eduard Mirage IIIC, now to start putting some decals on. I'm going to use the ones in the box, French air force.

Another minor milestone met: Masked along the seems and puttied them in. Sanding comes next followed by the installation of the intake assemblies.

There's a substantial gap at the rear of the right wing root. This will need a lot of filing.


the windows didn't go in nearly as smoothly as I had hoped, so they're going to get a coat of putty and a smoothing down before they can look good.

It's the Hasegawa 1/48 kit with Aires seats. I've done a bit of base painting (black and white) but no construction or detail work.

This is in honor of Yom Ha'Shoa, Holocaust remembrance day. On 4 Sept., 2003 four F-15Ds in Poland to celebrate the anniversary of the Polish Air Force did an overfly of Auschwitz to commemorate what happened there.



Now I'd better build it!

Badly overdue, and not a lot to look at yet, but I'm finally underway!...



I actually owe Steffen Arndt a HUGE thank you for his much needed pep talk to help snap me out of the modelling paralysis that's afflicted me since the death of my brother earlier this year. Cheers Steffen! (I've also started another secret "Projekt Steffen" to fall back on if I stall on this one. )

Anyway, enough heart-on-sleeve-wearing - I'm off to crank up the airbrush for the first time in about 4 months!

Sorry to hear about your loss.i hope that resin kit does the trick at least you took the first step.for me I have moved forward as I am building a p-47 at the same time I have started painting details here and there just doing some touch ups before decals and I should be nearing the end soon
