Designed for the Airfix kit

by: Tim Hatton [ LITESPEED ]

Pavla Models has released a resin horizontal stabiliser set for the Airfix Spitfire F Mk 22 [A02033] . The separate elevators will give the modeler a chance to recreate the lowered appearance of the elevators giving a more realistic look.

Contents:

Inside the re sealable bag is:
-2 x horizontal stabilisers.
-2 x elevators.

The parts have recessed detail, and there is even a hint of a gap between the trim tabs and the elevators. There is a little thin resin flash to clean up at the joining surfaces. The connection point for the parts to the casting blocks are very thin and should present no problems removing the parts. Trailing edges are wafer thin. These are direct replacements for the kit parts so no surgery is necessary.
Conclusions:

This is a nicely cast release from Pavla Models. The casting connection should be simple enough to remove. A good set to try out if you have never used resin parts before.
SUMMARY
Highs: Nicely cast and easy to separate from the casting blocks
Lows: None noted.
Verdict: Although the kit parts are pretty good and should not be to bothersome to separate the elevators, this Pavla Models release does offer more finesse.
