UH-1 Huey Slicks in Vietnam

by: Joe Szczygielski [ MOTHER ]

During the war the Huey played many roles from Gunships to MedEvac’s. The Huey was also the most produced Helicopter of any modern aircraft with over 26,000 manufactured to date. In 1963 the UH-1D (model 205) was in service through out Vietnam. Redesigned to carry up to 12 troops with a crew of two, was also fitted with many weapons.

This is a new decal sheet from Fireball Modelworks, “UH-1 Huey Slicks in Vietnam” item No.# FM32-D04. The very limited edition sheets are well printed, on registration and colorful. Printed on a ALPS printer, the decals are thin but strong and flexible as most silk screened decals. The carrier film cover the entire sheet, so you’ll have to cut the decal out closely to eliminate any of the film.

You get two (2) sheets that measure 5 ½ x 8 ½, and a colorful 4 page placement guide. The guide also lists the FS (Federal Standard) numbers and colors. As an added bonus, there are extra numbers and insignia that will be useful to build other Huey’s from the Vietnam war.

The sheets cover 6 units, (3) three for the UH-1D model and (3) three for the UH-1H model:
121st. AHC “Soc Trang Tigers” 1967
117th. AHC “Annie Fannies” 1968
174th. AHC “Dolphins” 1967
92nd. AHC “Stallions” 1971
282nd. AHC “Black cats” 1968
227th. AHC “Ghostriders” 1969
The stencil markings come in both black and yellow.

This decal sheet can be found not only in 1/32, but they also come in 1/72nd , 1/48th and 1/35th.
