Released only a couple of months ago, the Accurate Miniatures F-4J variant is the evolutionary successor to the F-4B.
Beginning in October of 1966, deliveries of the F-4J began. 522 were constructed and this type became a vaunted multi-mission weapons system in the skies over Vietnam. F-4J’s proved to be decisive in air superiority even though the aircraft lacked an internal gun. Navy and Marine fighter bomber squadrons equipped with the F-4J proved their capabilities during operation “Rolling Thunder” and redeployed in the spring of 1972 to establish air superiority in “Linebacker I” and “Linebacker II.

These kits were originally released by Monogram and are generally acknowledged to be the most accurate in form and shape of any Phantom currently on the market. This release the following new decal options:

-US Marines - F-4J Bureau No. 15526 - VMFA-333 "Fighting Shamrocks"

-US Marines - F-4S Bureau No. 153904 - VMF-321 "Hell’s Angels”

-US Navy - F4-J Bureau No. 155846 - “Dakota 214”- assigned to the U.S.S Enterprise

I am one of the lucky ones to have the original Monogram kit. I bought it way back in 1996 and started working on it a few months ago. It is the best F-4J kit in 1/72 scale if you don't mined raised panel lines. And yes I think it is better than Hasegawa kit in details wise. It had realy good cockpit and al around detail, I realy wonder what resin parts did they insert. Only problem, that is in my kit, is the fitting , in certain areas.

That's a good question on what resin bits are included. I'm waiting on an email from Accurate Miniatures and once I find out I'll edit the article and post it in here.

Ok, I talked with Steven at Accurate Miniatures and he set me straight. The F-4J kit does not include any resin parts. I must have mixed up some information on their blog about their F-4C/D kit which includes resin ECM pods. I'm apologize for the confusion and have edited my news article so that it's correct.
