Here are some pictures of Tamiya's new 1:48 scale figures set. The box will include 8 figures, one vehicle and accessories to do a nice Pacific War diorama. The set is shown assembled and painted in the accompanying photos.
The images are from the Tamiya Website.

It seems as if the kit will be part of their aircraft range (61107). Price is listed at ¥1890 which is about €15/$21.

Greets Rowan Well, often what you "read" depends on what you expect to read .... had some bad experience .... no not a Freudian mistake (keep those for myself ... mostly ) BTW looking at the groups I rather think this would fit landbased operations. Could I just paint the ground crew "khaki"? cheers Steffen

Hi Rowan and Steffen (in order of apparance)... That is what happens when an English reads an article written by a French on Aeroscale. A German must do the translation! Off course the figures are only painted for the presentation. That's why I thought the news was interesting. Sorry for the confusion... [quote]BTW looking at the groups I rather think this would fit landbased operations. Could I just paint the ground crew "khaki"?/quote] I can't answer to the question (hope someone can) but that's why I didn't wrote "to do a nice US Aircraft Carrier diorama" like I wanted to do in the first place but rather "to do a nice Pacific War diorama". Hi Steffen I rather think Navy buffs would say "No" - I expect the cut of the uniforms is different. All the best Rowan

Thank's guys I rather did not mean the driver with his bathing cap and blue shirt but the other guys. Honestly I cannot imagine pilots doing map reading on the deck of a carrier... same thought for the guys carrying a box round the platform (I rather think this would all be inside the carrier) all the best Steffen

Steffen, beware, you start to nitpick like an armor modeler... Jean-Luc

I reall do not know what you mean, but maybe we should ask Jim R. for a judgement ... To make one thing clear: I do like the figures I just find them not fully suited for a carrier deck (in the groups Tamiya presents in Tokio) .. I still hope for a set like the 120mm Verlinden pair "Dogfight" (sorry could not find a pic) in my scale cheers Steffen

Hi Steffen I found a few pics, so I think it's safe enough to use them on deck. Here you go: Pics from Dave's Warbirds All the best Rowan

Thank you Rowan! Still, a group like one in the pictures would have been more exciting ... or even more neutral some guys with rags and stuff .. rearming requires to open certain parts of the kits not normally shown (if you know what I mean) but then again, the figures in the aircraft line are much better than the military (undersize) crews and I sure find a few uses for the set. all the best Steffen
