Richard Alexander has informed us that anyone lucky enough to be able to attend New Zealand's Scale Models Expo this month will have the chance to grab Wingnut Wings' new Junkers D.1 ahead of its official release, plus first option on some otherwise sold-out kits.
Hi,

A small update on what is happening at Wingnut Wings.

Scale Model Expo 21 & 22 April 2018

Wingnut Wings will be attending Scale Models Expo in Upper Hutt, Wellington, New Zealand. If you are coming to New Zealand's largest scale model show we look forward to seeing you and having a chat over the weekend.

We will have a very limited number of pre-release 32065 Junkers D.1 available exclusively at Scale Models Expo (limit 1x per customer and only while stocks last). 32065 Junkers D.1 will be available on regular release from 24 April.

We also expect to have a very limited number of warehouse finds of sold out models available exclusively at the expo on a strictly first come first served basis (limit 1x each per customer and only while stocks last).

If everything goes according to plan between now and 21 April we should also have something else to announce at the show, so keep your eyes open. If that doesn’t work out then there’s always the Shizuoka Hobby Show in Japan on 10-14 May.

Additionally, about 1 hour (south) of Scale Models Expo is the Great War Exhibition and Gallipoli, The Scale of our War in Wellington city. Two exhibitions well worth visiting if you are in the area and have the time.

25 April is ANZAC Day;
The Wednesday following Scale Models Expo is ANZAC day and there will be numerous events around the city to commemorate this national day of remembrance if you are still in Wellington.

Please note that unfortunately we will not be able to answer email requests for special treatment regarding the exclusive Scale Models Expo allocation of 32065 Junkers D.1 stock, sorry. But if you have any other comments or suggestions please just let me know.

Regards
Richard Alexander

Interesting news – a new release around april 21st? The DR.1 is coming /Mikael

e Mikael, I wouldn't hold my breath on the DR1, but wouldn't discount it either-- the hint about the April 21st date is interesting though, considering the events of that day in 1918-- exactly 100 years ago. There is definitely something afoot at WnW, as they are advertising the Wellington show in the "News" portion of thier website and the links are definitely interesting, and the mention of an "announcement" either at the Wellington show or in Japan in May. Am I right in believing the Wellington Expo is the equivalent of the IPMS Nationals here in the states? That in itself sends a message about the announcement WnW is making. Hopefully our modeling friends in NZ will keep us informed of any WnW "/news" coming out of the show (photos would be nice too!). VR, Russ

I made the prediction of a surprise (DR.1) release around April 21 a couple of months ago – so now at least I'm half right That said – a DR.1 is not on my top ten wants from WnWs, but it is fun to speculate... Best /Mikael

Mikael, I remember your prediction. Somebody else predicted a Sopwith Camel - DR1 “Duellist” kit too—was that you? If that’s what it turns out to be, I’m going to consult with you on the stock market from now on! Now a “Duellist” set would really be really something! I’ve already built two Roden DR1s, but I dare say I’d still buy another one if WnW did one. I’d buy a Duellist set too, even though I’ve built two Hobbycraft Camels and have a WnW BR1 in the stash. You can’t have too many Camels— I’d walk a mile for one! VR, Russ

Hi Russ, nope I did'nt predict the duelist, but, I guess this would be a sure thing if the DR.1 appears. How about a triple boxing of tripes Could be they are just messing with my/our minds too! /Mikael
