Richard Alexander has sent word that Wingnut Wings' new Jeannin Stahltaube is now shipping. Included in the announcement is a shot with the kit sat alongside the Albatros D.V which really shows just what a magnificent beast the Stahltaube is! There are also details of two new publications that will be available via Wingnut Wings.

We are pleased to announce that 32058 1/32 Jeannin Stahltaube (1914) is now available (note that stock may not be available in all countries just yet).

The initial bird-like “Taube” (Dove) was designed by Austrian Igo Etrich and successfully took to the air in April 1910. Unfortunately for Etrich he was unable to successfully patent the design which lead to a dizzying array of copycat Taube designs being churned out by dozens of German manufacturers. One of the most successful was the Jeannin Stahltaube (Steel Dove) which was widely operated by the German military from 1914 until 1917.

-Be aware that while just about all Taubes superficially appear the same they are in fact significantly different from one another. Be very wary of using detail photos of different types of Taube (or museum reconstructions) when comparing them to this model.
