Hataka have sent us details of two new acrylic paint sets. This time the focus is on the modern day Luftwaffe and Greek Air Force.

HTK-AS66 “Modern Luftwaffe paint set vol. 4”
Shorty after introduction of F-4F Phantom II into service, Luftwaffe recognized that the usual Norm 72 camouflage scheme was not optimal for air-to-air combat. In 1976 a research work was started (with help of JG71 "Richthofen" and JG74 "Mölders") aimed at developing a new universal camouflage, suitable both for fighter and fighter-bomber roles. The resulting Norm 81 scheme was introduced in two variants - 81A with camouflage pattern of polygonal shapes and 81B using the same colours but in irregular shapes. The Norm 81 scheme had been officially used until introduction of Norm 90J, but was observed still in late 1990s.

HTK-AS66 includes standard colours of German F-4F fleet from 1980s till mid-1990s. The set contains:
HTK-A233 – Stone Grey – RAL7030, used for fuselage sides and lower surfaces (after 1983) in Norm 81A/B scheme of Luftwaffe F-4F Phantom IIs
HTK-A248 - Quartz Grey – RAL7039, used for upper surfaces in Norm 81A/B camouflage scheme of Luftwaffe F-4F Phantom IIs
HTK-A225 – Green Grey - RAL7009, used for upper surfaces in Norm 81A/B camouflage scheme of Luftwaffe F-4F Phantom IIs
HTK-A192 – Basalt Grey – RAL7012, used for upper surfaces in Norm 81A/B camouflage scheme of Luftwaffe F-4F Phantom IIs
HTK-A249 – Dusty Grey – RAL7037, used for upper surfaces in Norm 81A/B camouflage scheme of Luftwaffe F-4F Phantom IIs
HTK-A191 – Light Grey – RAL7035, used for lower surfaces in Norm 81A/B camouflage scheme of Luftwaffe F-4F Phantom IIs
HTK-A189 – Silver Grey – RAL7001, used for lower surfaces in initial Norm 81A/B camouflage scheme of Luftwaffe F-4Fs (after 1983 replaced by RAL7030)
HTK-A100 – Jet Black – RAL9005, standard colour of radome of Luftwaffe F-4F Phantom IIs in Norm 81A/B camouflage scheme

HTK-AS68 “Modern Hellenic AF paint set vol. 1”
Hellenic AF, known for a long time for their eye-catching colours, for many years used three types of "forest" patterns. The most widespread (worn by Hellenic A-7H/E, TA-7C/H, F/RF-5A/B, F/RF-4E, F/RF-84F, F/TF-102A, F/TF/RF-104G, T-2C/E, T-33A, C-130B/H, C-47, Do-28D-2 and YS-11A) was the famous "South-East Asia, SEA" or "Vietnam" camouflage scheme. It was introduced in HAF in early 1970s and it has recently been used on some of HAF's RF-4E Phantom IIs and T-2C/E Buckeyes. Northop F-5A/B airframes purchased from Jordan in 1980s were delivered and initially flown by HAF in another US-origin pattern - so-called "Asia Minor" scheme. Finally, ex-Luftwaffe RF-4Es have been operated in Norm 83 scheme (some are still spotted).

HTK-AS68 includes standard colours of Greek aircraft since 1970s. The set contains:
HTK-A012 – Dark Tan – FS30219, used for upper surfaces in SEA scheme of A-7, F/RF-5, F/RF-4, F/RF-84F, F/TF-102, F/TF/RF-104, T-2, T-33 and C-130 of HAF
HTK-A016 - Dark Green – FS34079, widely used for upper surfaces in SEA scheme. Also on ex-Jordanian F-5A/Bs (Asia Minor) and ex-Luftwaffe aircraft (Norm 83)
HTK-A021 – Medium Green – FS34012, used for upper surfaces in SEA scheme of A-7, F/RF-5, F/RF-4, F/RF-84F, F/TF-102, F/TF/RF-104, T-2, T-33 and C-130 of HAF
HTK-A039 – Camouflage Grey – FS36622, widely used for lower surfaces in SEA scheme. Also on lower surfaces of ex-Jordanian F-5A/Bs in so-called "Asia Minor scheme"
HTK-A160 – Pale Brown – FS30140, used for upper surfaces in so-called "Asia Minor scheme" of ex-Jordanian F-5A/Bs in Hellenic AF service (acquired in 1980s)
HTK-A187 – Tan – FS20400, used for upper surfaces in so-called "Asia Minor scheme" of ex-Jordanian F-5A/Bs in Hellenic AF service (acquired in 1980s)
HTK-A224 – Black Grey – RAL7021, used in Norm 83 wraparound camouflage scheme of ex-Luftwaffe RF-4Es and (temporarily) of Do-28D-2 Skyservants
HTK-A059 – Field Green – FS34095 / RAL6003, used in Norm 83 wraparound scheme of ex-Luftwaffe RF-4Es and (temporarily) of Do-28D-2 Skyservants
