Mikael. I support your proposal that delivery time will be speeded up being supplied from within the EU, but I reckon there is zero prospect of them being cheaper in any way overall. I say this as not only will taxes get incorporated into the package price, but it simply adds more people into the 'food chain' who will all want their profit from the product supply too. For us UK modellers, I rather suspect that the end price once this comes into fruition will be a simple $US-£GBP conversion cost just like Hannants and other dealers who get their hands on them do. In effect, a significant (overall) increase in purchase costs even allowing for 20% VAT and (in the UK anyway) the pernicious Parcel Force "handling fee" to collect the tax. Want anything in the WNW range?...I would get them now rather than later if you can! Gary

The new shipping policy is most likely lose / lose for US Consumer as we have no extra costs levied and delivery time has been 1 week to major commercial hub (Los Angeles) - that's from submitting payment info to it arriving. I'm anticipating a run on the banks in the next month or so... Also a degree of trepidation how limited edition system will work with multiple shipping hubs - like kit selling out at one, but available overseas. My overall worry level is "what worry level?"

Gary – no you're probably very right on the price not being cheaper after the new shippng. But I think it may be more "fair". After all the VAT/import duty was, at least here in Sweden, a bit of a gamble. I never knew exacly what the delivery from WNW would end up costing me. As for the Hanannts GBP=USD pricing, well I hope not, and I guess WNW will try their best to keep the shipping low – after all I think they must be aware that sales would take a hit if it becomes even more expensive. I wonder if the recent increase in prices was to "allow" for the coming costs of distribution to the shipping points. I don't think they would gamble another price increase on top of shipping costs? Meanwhile, I still have more than enough kits to build for a good while. That said I will ponder if there's one or two extras I'd like before free shipping ends... You clearly have the same 'lottery' with tax and importing WNW in Sweden as we do here in the UK. The tax charges are all over the place making budget calculations impossible and I remain convinced they are arbitrarily calculated rather than based on any actual formula. Last year just before Christmas, I took a 6 x kit delivery which was well over $US600.00 and got taxed an incredulous low £14.00 and a few pennies (Cannot recall precise sum)then about 2 days later, a single (Roland) kit in a separate order costing $79.00 attracted a whopping tax charge of just over £18.00 (as our US friends say - "Go figure!" ) and both of course also having the £8.50 'handling fee' from Parcel Force added on top as well. In simple terms, the UK VAT policy for importing these kits seems to be one of - "some you win and some you lose". Either that or they are employing innumerate HMRC officers to calculate costs? If nothing more, EU prices will be now be fixed and a final delivery price able to be determined by the modeller rather than simply guessed at although collectively, I remain convinced we (will) notice a significant overall cost at the point of delivery for our kits; if only by virtue of a another distributer / company being involved in the supply chain. I'm seriously thinking of getting the Pup and Albatros D.Va before the p&p charges come in. I can't figure out why they don't have an official distributor in Europe and the US. It would make them easier for us to get and better availability would be better business for them.
