Due from Airfix next year is an impressive new-tool Nakajima B5N1 in 1:72. Luciano Satornetti has sent us the report.
New for 2016 – Nakajima B5N1 Kate in 1/72nd scale
Many modellers will have been pleased to see the inclusion of the 1/72nd scale Nakajima B5N2 Kate attack bomber in the current Airfix catalogue, and in this latest edition of Workbench we can exclusively announce the arrival of its predecessor in 2016, the B5N1 Kate.

This new model announcement allows the modeller to produce the B5N1 version of the Kate, which was the first production aircraft of the type, based on the second prototype aircraft to fly. It had the simple flaps, manually folding wings and significantly, the less powerful Hikari 3 engine – this was a nine cylinder, single row radial engine, which although less powerful than the unit fitted to the B5N2, had a greater diameter, larger engine cowling and therefore obstructed the pilot's forward view.

The 1:72 Nakajima B5N1 Kate (A04060) is scheduled for release in August 2016.

I must say that Airfix is, for my money, really making a comeback with some super looking models. A 'bulb-nosed' Kate!? Ahhhhhhhh.

I wish that someone would put this out in 32-scale.
