The latest decal sheets from Techmod should delight Gabby fans everywhere.
Francis “Gabby” Gabreski saw some action at Pearl Harbor but had virtually no operational experience when he arrived in Britain in 1942. Because of his Polish origin be applied for a posting to a Polish squadron to gain combat experience. Techmod now provide markings for three of the Spitfire Mk IXs that he flew while with 315 Squadron. As usual there are sheets available in 1/48 and 1/72 scales.

As a bonus there are also masks for the wing leading edge yellow bands and, with the 1/48 sheet, canopy masks for the Hasegawa kit.

There are a complete set of markings, roundels, stencils, etc, to complete one aircraft together with codes and serial numbers for BS513, PK-Z which Gabby flew on a training sortie on 4th January 1942, EN172, PK-K, the aeroplane flown by Gabby during a Rodeo to St Omer on 4th February 1943 and BS410, PK-E, the aeroplane used by Gabby in his first combat sortie in No.315 Sqn on 21st January 1943.

Techmod already have decals for two of Gabby's P-47s in /172, 1/48 and now 1/32 scale as well. As they have been around for a while Hannants or Aeroclub should have them. The Kagero publication No.24 Republic Thunderbolt P-47 Vol III includes a set of masks for 226677. They are for the canopy and invasion stripes (Tamiya 1/48 kit). In the centre the page pulls out to double size with a colour profile of 226418. There is also a photograph of a less well known P-47 that he used for a while. A P-47D-5-RE, 42-8458, HV-F. The book has been available in Poland for about three months but I havn't seen it mentioned elsewhere yet.
