The next 1:48 MiG-29 version is due shortly from Great Wall Hobby - this one covering the Early version of the MiG-29 9-12. While we will have official pictures of the kit and contents shortly - and will publish those as soon as they are made available - we have been provided with an advanced look at just some of the updates that have been included in this latest kit!
When the 1:48 MiG-29 9-12 Late version was released late last year, we were treated to one of the finest injection molded kits to have ever been released! This kit was quickly followed by the 9-13 version earlier this year. The 9-13 version showed that GWH was not resting on their laurels. Not only did it have the completely new upper fuselage with the 9-13's characteristic bigger spine, the kit also featured a number of corrections to the base 9-12 tooling common between the kits. Some of the corrections were VERY subtle, demostrating GWH's dedication to accuracy in their kits.

The third MiG-29 kit will be released shortly, and while it includes another round of updates for the earlier version of the MiG-29 9-12 - the biggest visible difference being the ventral fins - it also includes another round of updates to the base tooling.

One of the few remaining complaints about the existing MiG-29 kits was that the pylons and drop tanks were undersized. They were all quite accurate in detail and general shape, they were simply undersized. In this newest release, GWH has offered new toolings for each of these parts. We have included photos showing the new parts against a scale showing the sizing change.

Also shown are the newly added R-60 missiles that will be new additions to the kit. Like the R-27s and R-73s previously released, these are stunning examples of the current state of the art in tooling.

We will have additional coverage of the release when the official photos arrive within the next week or so, and then a detailed "what's new" review when the kit arrives to the review desk.

The other bonus news is that GWH have indicated that both MiG-29UB and MiG-29SMT versions are slated for 2014 release, so they're not done with the line yet!
